Excellent write-up. Tried it today but, still using battery though. Opener operates on 3V and didn't have a regulator handy. Here are some shots...

You can just run off of the battery right? I'm not much of a "do it yourselfer" and seems wayyyy to complicated to do the whole 12v from car battery step.

Yep, My opener ran on 3v so I didn't want to mess with regulators. Easy mod good luck.

This is a real good idea. I've heard of cases where peoples car get robbed at a baseball game or something and the crooks steal the garage door remotes and turn on the navigation of their car to find out where they live, go to their house and rob it all clean, all while taking their time b/c they know when the game ends. x_x
This would prevent the .0000001% chance of that happening to you. =D

First one to PM me gets it.

Asking $15 including shipping (hey, it's $10 worth of parts alone).

OK, I was cleaning out my garage storage the other day and came across the button and bullet connectors! So I still have it if anyone wants it. Just PM me.

Remember, I've saved the hassle of buying a button, cutting the extra plastic out, making the hole, soldering the wires and crimping the connectors! That's less labor for you!

In my old car, I just took a remote, soldered the button contacts to always be on and wired the 12v battery prongs to the high beam wiring on the right headlight. I dubbed it the "Mikochu Über VIP High Beam Gate Remote." Flash the high beams, garage opens...instant gratification.
