K. I'll give you that. Stalling out the car would absolutely make some lurches occur and such. So! If you are a tightly parked kind of civic, with one or more incapable drivers, please ignore this thead! No busting through walls and such allowed

Hmm... again, if much of the rest of the world can manage without this safeguard, there's no reason any reasonably competent North American can't!
If you're clumbsy/forgetful/incompetent forget-about-it! |

OK so my car came with a remote start, and I just figured that it didn't work. Well anyways yesterday I was bored and just replaced the batteries and now the car responds to the remote. The only problem is that the engine doesn't turn over or something.
I was wondering if this would help solve the problem if I just jumper the clutch then would it turn over or should I just take it to some place and get it looked at? |

With some aftermarket remote start systems on manual trans cars there is a certian sequence of events that have to take place for the car to start. For example: put car in nuetral, press remote start button, turn car off, lock doors. Its like you have to "arm" the sytem. kind of a pian in my opinion, and thats why i have never done that to my car... Maybe check with the manufacturer if you know who it is.

All I have to do is put it in neutral and set the parking brake which I had already done everytime I get out but the engine just doesn't turn over so I'm gonna take it somewhere to get it looked at.

Whether you think the mod is dumb or not there is sort of use for such a mod. Toyota trucks come with clutch bypass to use in the event you run out of gas and need to get the car off the road. Brake off, put in first or reverse, and crank until the car gets off the road. Probably burn up the starter, but better than getting hit on the road. If I thought I wanted to keep this long term, I'd put in a bypass switch.
