K. I'll give you that. Stalling out the car would absolutely make some lurches occur and such. So! If you are a tightly parked kind of civic, with one or more incapable drivers, please ignore this thead! No busting through walls and such allowed

Hmm... again, if much of the rest of the world can manage without this safeguard, there's no reason any reasonably competent North American can't!

If you're clumbsy/forgetful/incompetent forget-about-it!

I love just jumping in the car and starting without pushing the clutch

OK so my car came with a remote start, and I just figured that it didn't work. Well anyways yesterday I was bored and just replaced the batteries and now the car responds to the remote. The only problem is that the engine doesn't turn over or something.

I was wondering if this would help solve the problem if I just jumper the clutch then would it turn over or should I just take it to some place and get it looked at?

I installed a toggle switch hidden under the dash... my gf got in the car tried to start it and she's like "your car is broken"... this is almost like a cheap anti theft device.

I can't get the paper clip to stay put or even go in for that matter. Do you put it in the part that would plug into the two connectors when you plug it in?

Nevermind I got it and it didn't solve the problem so I guess I'll have to take it somewhere.

With some aftermarket remote start systems on manual trans cars there is a certian sequence of events that have to take place for the car to start. For example: put car in nuetral, press remote start button, turn car off, lock doors. Its like you have to "arm" the sytem. kind of a pian in my opinion, and thats why i have never done that to my car... Maybe check with the manufacturer if you know who it is.

All I have to do is put it in neutral and set the parking brake which I had already done everytime I get out but the engine just doesn't turn over so I'm gonna take it somewhere to get it looked at.

What brand do you have for the remote starter?

Whether you think the mod is dumb or not there is sort of use for such a mod. Toyota trucks come with clutch bypass to use in the event you run out of gas and need to get the car off the road. Brake off, put in first or reverse, and crank until the car gets off the road. Probably burn up the starter, but better than getting hit on the road. If I thought I wanted to keep this long term, I'd put in a bypass switch.

Dude..are you serious? That's what neutral is for. Put car in neutral open door, step out and push off road with hand on steering wheel. Done. I've pushed my work truck off of the road by myself before with an 18 trailer behind it.

I'm not saying it's a good thing, I just know it's there for that reason.
