I've been installing remote starters for 8 years, and have a pretty good handle on it.

What happens when someone else drives your car and leaves it in gear with no e-brake? When you remote start it, the car WILL move far enough to hurt something or someone. Guess who's paying those medical bills?

If you really insist on being able to start the car without the clutch, install a momentary push-button on the dash somewhere that shorts those two wires together.

Paperclips belong on your desk, not your car's circuitry.
Don't know about you, but no one else drives my baby, and if you let someone else drive you car and they hurt someone, it's your fault for letting them drive it.

I've had 4 or 5 people ask me if I could drive it. My answer... "Hellz no!" haha, my dad is the only other person lucky enough to drive it, but only because it was necessary. I still think this is a nice diy, only because it's reversible. Can't beat that.

I don't get it. I tried it with a hairpin and it didn't work. All you do is unplug the yellow connect and put the pin in there and that's it, correct? You don't plug the connect back in (idk how you would since you have a paperclip in there)

No. You are connecting the 2 pins.

Edit: Adding Dent's pic:

You are just adding the clip to complete the circuit. You have to angle the clip just right. You don't have to reconnect the yellow connector, I did, and taped it in just to make it look cleaner.

hmm ok that's what i thought. Maybe the hairpin wasn't conductive or maybe i didn't put the pin all the way in...heh

Love it. Just did this on my lunch break (with an office paperclip!). I got spoiled driving in the UK, not having to push the clutch to start there. This makes me happy :-)

Oh, I'll make it back--I will probably have forgotten all my German by then. 2 months, eh? I'm jealous!
