In the picture it looks like the wiring is going to the center of the car but you said you ran it up the weather stripping. I assume this is the left door weather striping nearest to the fuse box not the right door stripping, am I correct?

Mute button for x50 8500 in switch box

I modified the mute button from the hard wire smart cord with a blank from the switch box for the fog lights and vsa buttons to fit in place of a blank. I am thinking about making a few and selling them, let me know if your interested

Yes.. I ran it in the weather stripping on the left side and then tucked it into the A frame and ran it up that into the ceiling liner.. didn't even have to take anything off.. I'll post a picture up in a minute when I get done eating.

Great DIY...I had it working and I pulled on the wire and ripped the ground out so I got to go get another hard-wire kit...

i had it setup like the one in the beginning of this thread. this past weekend, i ended up relocating it and mounting the mute button near the shifter.

How'd you manage to mount it in that little hole?

i ended up carving and making hole bigger and still small enough to be able to cover it with the mute button. I sanded the sides around it so its nice and smooth.

Will hardwiring the car adapter process work the same with doing it to an XM radio reciever? Im thinking of getting rid of the clunky adapter since it isnt long enough to hide in the arm rest.

You need a female adapter to hard wire a sirius. Unless there is some other way to do it...I bought the female and popped ot the ACC adapter and tapped into the positive and negative from there.

I am good at picking out undercover cars (used to work for the police dept.) but if your doing 90 sometime you will not notice and fly bye them. Then you screwed. Because they dont have to have you on radar, they will just write you for wreckless. As far as laser goes. If the cop has a good spot and is pretty experienced with laser by the time your detector goes off you already caught. Smart cops will put their radar on hold (so it doesn't emit radar signal) and right when they see someone traveling balls to the wall they will take it off, bang your done because your detector goes off but they got your speed by the time you slow down. Now if a cop is doing stationary radar and hitting ever car that comes by them, then they work good because they can pick up the signal before you even get close. If the cops is smart and has been doing the job a while they can catch you. I got rid of my radar detector. I didn't have one for three years and was fine. Two months after getting one I got my first ticket, one month later ticket number two. Never bought another. But good DIY write up.

Just have to say learn to drive then :\ , got my 8500x50 blue no tickets yet, down here in FL, they use impalas, VW, Chargers, jeeps, trucks as undercovers, Its all about beeing and an alert driver If you want to speed. Just NEVER speed in school zones, and take care bc of laser when you are driving in those 40mph zones.

Great DIY hope it is similar to my LX sedan 07.

i ran the wires on the side pillar and underneath the steering wheel. i actually made the hole bigger in the center console so i can put cord in but small enough to cover it with the mute button.

Oh and it's not that hard to pop out the tweater on the dash and run the power cable out the back side of it. It required no dremeling and the tweater sat flush when reinstalled. Then you can run the cable down the crack of the windshield to wherever you want it. I noticed many ran it across the pilar where it can be seen.
