Supposedly, it helps block the sun. It doesn't do JACK but cause problems.

This is a great DIY. I just mounted mine right below the rear view. I'm happy with it there.

hey guys, my first post. just received the hardwire to do the install, but there are two parts on one of the ends. what i mean is that there is that one end where you connect the wire to the detector and the other end that you tap into the car with. the end where you tap into the car with has two ends. what do i do with them? I am completely clueless when it comes to this stuff. Ive never done this. any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone

never mind, i got it done. didn't realize that that was the ground. but anyway, i have a 07 si navi and i connected it to the thicker green wire, but it wasn't the darker one. It was the fourth from the end of the harness and it works. only thing is that when im starting the engine, my passport says LOW VOLT. Is this going to be a problem?
Thanks

well one of the two wires if for your power (positive) and the other is your ground (negative). The positive for mine has a thin red line on it and this is the one that you connect to the power in your car via the T clamp. The other wire (ground) is the one that you have to connect to the chassis of the vehicle. On this you connect via one of the screws. Hope that helps. If there is no thin red line, thin you have to find out which one is round and which one is positive.
