DIY : Keyhole starter light
My first contribution to DIY section
My car is RHD, but i believe the wiring would be the same, as i followed "engine start button" and "steering wheel audio control button" wiring diagrams from this DIY section (LHD) Open the steering collum 1. pull the steering onward and lowered the steering wheel (RED arrow) 2. push at each side of steering collum and push upward (green arrow) to remove the collum ![]() ![]() ![]() 3. remove 3 screws from bottom collum (at the bottom of steering wheel) ![]() 4. just pull down the bottom collum, don't have to remove. unplug the green connector (color may vary), by push the lock button located at inside (facing inward) ![]() 5. peel the sticky tape (do not cut) and exposed the wires by remove the tube protector (do not cut) ![]() WIRING 6. now, the interior wires : the first wire is + and second (orange) is (-) ![]() 7. please see carefully, the odd shape of the connector is facing to front (RED ARROW) and flat shape of the connector is facing backward and tap the wires from keyhole light to these 2 wires. 1 = interior (+) 2 = orange color = interior (-) MAKE SURE BEFORE YOU TAP, YOU PRESS UNLOCK BUTTON FIRST TO LIGHT UP THE INTERIOR LIGHT. and start tap, if the keyhole doesn't light up, swap the wires from keyhole light and tap again. ![]() 8. sealed, PROPER SEALED !!! the wires. ![]() 9. install/plug the keyhole ring light. Advise: close the door and lock, to make interior light dimmed off (so the keyhole light), otherwise too bright..might blind you eyes...LOL ![]() 10. Enjoy !!! I guarantee, you'll LOVE IT !!!! ![]() Video 1 (daytime) YouTube - keyhole light Video 2 YouTube - keyhole light 2 Video 3 (night time) YouTube - keyhole 3 |

for USDM civic, the keyhole light wires need to be tapto this 2 wires, at interior fuse box, choose blue connector, and the wires are blue/light blue and pink.
tapped, if doesn't work, swap the wires and try again. ![]() ![]() reference : Interior lights & Mugen Replica Visors http://www.8thcivic.com/forums/3214720-post98.html http://www.8thcivic.com/forums/3243535-post99.html http://www.8thcivic.com/forums/179062-post9.html DIY: Courtesy Lights to Dome Light w/PICS |

LOL... that's what we have before, aftermarket ones (CCFL). the light very dull (JDM honda ones 10x more brighter), and not a good life (only few months). that's why we forget about it. aftermarket ones (white-blue-red). ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Compare JDM Honda : ![]() at daytime, still bright too :
