Is it weird to want something faster?
Just wondering about others opinions.
I've had my Si for a little less then a year. I was 19 when I bought my 07 si with 112 miles on it, brand new. Couldn't have been happier about it, loved everything about it. So as time went by I'm feeling like I want something faster. Already envious of Evo's/STi's/S2k's and so on. Is this strange that I'm already unsatisfied with my Si? I'm very grateful for having a brand new car. |

I don't think it is weird, however, what are you going to do with a faster car? I debated going with an STI before I got my new ride, however I realized I wouldn't ever be able to safely and legally take full advantage of it. (Without tracking it.) Not to mention I've got at least 8 years more driving experience. Not saying you aren't a compentent driver, just that could be too tempting having a faster car.
Bottom line I guess would be that no, it is not strange to always want something faster. ![]()

I dont think its at all weird to want something faster, just a question of is it worth it. The Si is good bang for your buck in a reliable package thats why i got one, now if i could have afforded an STI or an EVO i wouldnt have even been looking at Si's. But now that i have one even if i had the extra money it doesnt seem worth it to sell the car now, might as well get a few more good years out of it and see if something even faster comes out in a few yrs. so after that rant basicly i just think you gotta ask your self do you wanna sell a fairly new car to get something more expensive thats faster?

Yea I mean the Si's a great little car.
Reliable, good gas, fun to drive, just practical. But I feel like I just need a faster car. I also don't want to sound like I'm ungrateful. So when would be a good time to sell/trade mine? to where I wouldn't take a big hit on it. I've had it for almost a year. |

It's not unusual to want a faster car.
That's why I mod. The Si is a practical car, the best in it's price range in my opinion, and it gets excellent gas mileage. If you enjoy working on your own car, you should spend some money on mods and have fun that way. Buy a faster car when it's better suited to your budget. As soon as I graduate I'm planning on selling the Si and getting a G35, but for now the Si is perfect for my needs and fast enough to have a lot of fun in. |

Ive owned 2 s2k's audi tt quattro and 500hp Built Supra and actually went the other way, i bought a fiji blue si sedan yesterday and couldnt be happier i still have my 500hp Supra in the garage for when i want faster but with a faster car comes greater worries more anxiety and more problems (turbo charged cars constantly require something needing fixing, my 2jz hasnt given me any problems its my d*mn water/meth injection that is constantly dumping water and meth when it shouldnt. Im happy with si mine is still in break in period so i havent got into vtec but its beyond me why so many people on here are unhappy with their SI they are great great cars, i was not even in the market for an SI when a salesman convinced me to give it a chance i took it down the road and kept it for 4 hours or so came back a week later ordered my fiji and couldnt be happier. The S isnt much different than the Si trans feels the same gearing similar only difference is FWD to RWD and about 40 horsepower but you can acheive the same horsepower with bolt on's and the power to weight ratio. I cant wait to finally be able to get into vtec on my new si but giving it the proper break in then ![]() Moral of story : Be happy with the car you have, you bought it for a reason s2ks evos and sti's are all great cars all have their advantages and disadvantages, but i can tell you that many people dont give their si the credit it deserves it impresses me and makes me even with a Supra in the garage! |

The Si is so sloooooww. You have to get to 6k RPM just to get power out of it and it has no torque. I see some people (young and old) driving SI's and they think they're bad ass or something so i give them a pissed off look and i feel like flipping them off. The third gear grind up the ass who wants to deal with that shit?

Dibs on your S-techs and rotas if/when you part out. And yeah youre a kid so It's understandable. And like said before, you would not be able to take advantage of a car that fast, legally, unless you go on a track. And plus 20k compared to 30+k...... Youre gonna be taking a hit on payments and insurance. epsecially considering youre under 25. Not worth it for a car that beats the si by not even a car length in a 1/4 mile IMO. but yeah i call first dibs on those parts. |

you got that right. so many people bash the si because its not "fast" enough for them. Did anyone think that it was going to be "fast" in the first place? 197hp-139tq doesnt produce that much speed for some and if you didnt know that when you brought the car then theres something wrong. Im completely 100% satisfied with mine and cant wait to boost it. And yeah if you ever decide to sale the supra, I got first dibs on that too haha. |

if you s/c it it will be faster. It may even be considered a fast car with it, not just a quick car.
When theres realy good tuning you will be able to set it to track mode at the track, then street mode for great gas.(with a laptop probably) Atleast i hope so because i want to S/C mine. |

I'm married with 2 kids. I bought the SI for a fun, practical, dependable, urban family sedan. When I'm alone in it, I do open it up once in a while
, but rarely. My wife's RAV4 is the real family vehichle. When I need a fix of REAL speed, I get on my modded '05 Raven R1. The reality is that there are very few production made cars that could take me on the 1. ![]() My .02, keep the SI, get a sportbike! ![]() |
