How the EX lacking a trunk key-release screwed me... - Page 2

You can see the reasoning for not putting the seat release in the cabin. Since you can lock the inside trunk release with the master key, the only other way to access the trunk is to either have the master key (DX,LX) or the remote entry transmitter (EX,EX-L,Si), so it actually turns the trunk into a makeshift safe that cannot be accessed by the valet key. I still think it is stupid that the models with remote trunk release don't have a key lock though.

the lock by the lever is not very secure.
you can remove that little cover and move a little metal lever to over ride the lock

thank you so much for sharing that story... im officially NOT looking into the '08 trunk garnish anymore.

i have an '07 4DR Si WITH a keyhole while the '08 4DR Si's do not (& i love the super-clean look which is why i was THINKING about spending the 60-someodd bucks to replace the piece)... i hope to NEVER encounter such an inconvenience myself, but sh!t happens basically.

it sounds to me you had an actual problem with the locking mechanism, maybe the lock not being aligned, it got stuck.

in that case, a keyhole in the trunk wouldnt have done anything different than the release latch and trunk release via remote.

sounds like you think a keyhole wouldve saved you, but it doesnt sound like it wouldve done anything.
