tangy,

Sounds like the beginning of a good deal but you have to know what other charges are not included in that price to make a good comparison. For example: I bought an '08 coupe with navi and tinted windows already installed a few weeks ago. Price quoted was $21,799 including destination charge ($635). Additional charges included dealer fee of $180, tax at 6%, and $14 registration fee. Same car w/o navi was quoted at $20,199 including dest charge plus same fees as noted above.

They can make money on financing, but not as much as you think. Those dollars go mostly to the banks. They can make money on the extended warranties, but you can negotiate those and some are really helpful, like GAP insurance.
I played the trade-in game when I bought my Civic. They quoted me $3k to $3.5k over the phone for my trade-in, which was a 2000 Integra in need of some body work. I thought this was larcenous, and then when they saw the car they "re-valued" it at $2k. $2k! Granted, it needed $1-2k or so of body work, but it only had 63k miles on it. I was ready to walk out before they offered me another $500, dropped the price of the Civic by $200 and threw in the all-season floor mats. I turned out they had also included the "dealer package" of mud guards, trunk mat and wheel locks. I wanted the mud guards and trunk mat, but not the wheel locks. I probably could have made a fuss about that. Anyway, I probably got hosed on the trade-in but I ended up getting an '08 EX-L coupe for about $19.6k (incl. destination charge), which I think is just about at invoice. Plus, not having to deal with getting the Integra fixed up and selling it privately was worth money to me. I find that the older I get, the more I am willing to pay to not be hassled.

What is GAP insurance? I declined it and I also declined the $99 VIN "registration fee" or whatever. Sounded sketchy to me.

GAP is insurance that will cover any negative equity in your car if you total it out or get it stolen. If you put 1,000 dollars or less down, or trade in a car and roll negative equity into your car, I highly recommend you buy it. They can't jack the price up either because it is mandated by the government. Work at a dealer and when Sales people buy cars, it is often the only thing they buy. You can also get it through a credit union.

I was wondering what is the lowest price people have been paying for the 2008 Civic Si with Navi. Can people tell me what they have got it for? I got a quote today for a 2008 Civic Si w/ Navi for 21,300. And for the 2008 Si w/o Navi is 19,600. Should I bargain somemore? Please, if anyone has any thoughts.

Thanks.

If you can get that price take it and dont think twice cuase thats below invoice...just be careful and make sure the car isnt a demo (car that has been driven by a manger or salesmen then sold as a new vehicle) and also make sure they actually have a car to sell you! anyone can sell air request a vin number for the actual car ur buying and if possible leave a deposit over the phone to secure the car but make sure its fully refundable and also make sure the car doesnt have any added accessories and find out an out the door price with the itemization of the fees in writing..

good luck

bought my 08si NHBP FG2 w/ navi for $19,8xx

which is below invoice.

keep saying no enough times till they bring out the sales manager or the dealer owner. and say this
"well, you can either give me a good deal on the car and move some inventory OR you can keep the car on your lot and pay more advolurm tax on it. Someone in this town wants to sell me a car."

if it is a written, signed offer on the dealer's form, they have to honor it for 7 days. internet offers do not have to be honored.

I was wondering if anyone could give me some info if they ever bought an s.i during the honda clearance, and is there an actual discount sale price or buying during the clearance and regular time really doesnt make a difference. also not to long a dealer offered me $375 a month on a lease on a 08 si fbp coupe. now i am not really into leasing but i know i could buy the car at the end of the lease especially since i plan on doing mods. i am just wondering if anyone could gimme their feedback or share some advice if they have had the experience. and i wont lie the dealer almost got me back in the door to take the fbp s.i, but it was just the fact that it was a lease, and btw it was a 48month lease.

Just to add this price was from the dealer and the financer in the office. and they told me if i wanted a s.i with navi it would put around a little $400 a month. and the most important thing this was $0 down.

Went today for an 08 RR for $359 a month and zero down. He said the car cost $21,300, but that didn't seem right and also said it was $800 over invoice not to mention me paying a stupid $250 for "Honda advertising." Whatever that means.
