Exclamation Excessive Speeding!!!

uuhhmm, guys, yesterday I was pulled over for speeding. I was running my 07 civic lx 108mph on a 65mph limit. The cop took my license and i would have to appear in court for it. I did a some research and found out that what I did can actually be considered a class A misdemeanor. This has been the first time I ever got pulled over since I started driving 2 years ago.

Now, my questions are, how severe could the penalty really be served for the speed I was running? Can I possibly find myself in jail despite of this being my first offense? How mcuh are the fines/court fees? Lastly, what should I do/say when I'm already in court?

Court date will be on June 9th, 2008. I would really appreciate if you guys could give me some advice on this.

And yeah, CIVICs ROCK!

Is this a serious first post?

do the crime pay the time/fine. Get a lawyer for sure, or you will get raped. If you want to go that fast go play Forza. I'm guessing you are under 18, so I don't think you will go to jail either way, but i hope the best for you if this is a real story.

let me start by saying....you deserve what you get.

chances are you will get a very large fine. possibly a revoked license for a certain amount of time. jailtime....doubt it. community service is always a possibility. not to mention, your insurance is going to go up.....way up!

Ah, now that you say your age, if its your first ticket ever like you said.. you will just get some kinda huge fine, even with a lawyer. (I have been there before i got a 89 in a 35 =( )

Dress, nice and act courteous to the judge, that + lawyer is probably your only way to get a decent outcome. One thing that may happen is they revoke your license and or give you a limited license where you can only drive to work.

talking about fines? how large could it be? and if ever i don't bring a lawyer with me, what could be my best argument? coz i tried to talk the cop to believe that I was just running 92-93 on my speedometer.. and one more thing, this happened around 2.5-3hrs away from where I live so is it a must that I bring another driver with me should they revoke my license?

I hope you learn your lesson. No need to speed that excessively. Your not cool cuz u drive a civic. Infact, your lucky he didnt take you in on the spot. I'm not sure about the law in your state, but I know some states can get you for wreckless driving, wreckless endangerment, etc etc when your 30+ mph over the limit. Consider yourself lucky.

Welcome to the site.

Not everyone is like that on here...

edit: I am a habitual speeder (though not to the tune of 43 over ) so you will not hear it from me.

to the OP: get a lawyer, that is a must.

yea same, i just think its funny how this site is made up of car enthusiests(spelling?) who mostly share the same passion for modding cars, and why do we mod cars .. hmmm to go faster, sure the politically correct thing is to say well i only race on the track but every guy in here knows that if a car comes up to you reving and you know you can take it you gonna step on the gas and idc how old and mature you are cuz my 46 year old dad does the same thing in my moms z4, so reallly all this scolding and shit is useless because everyone does it at some point and itl always happen, it might not be safe and smart but thats the way it is, theres no way people go through all the trouble and money to sit on the highway going 65 and not a mph over, i just dont get why people feel the need to scold others on here like its really going to make a difference
