Noise/Rattle In Engine Bay.
hey guys. i was just wondering if anyone had experienced the same problem. i drive an '08 nhbp fa5 si. every time i go over about 73mph i get some weird rattling sound in my engine bay like something is loose or about to fall off. it only happens when i go up that high, like on the parkway or highway. nothing from high rev'ing or local driving. i recently just installed my first mod with the help of my mechanic friend, an injen short ram intake, but im pretty sure that its not the problem. we retightened all the bolts/screws and made sure its secure with no leaks. id be greatly appreciative for any help/info. thanks!

This link is for a post from a guy with a similar problem. I stumbled upon it when looking for posts about a popping noise in my rear suspension. Hope it helps point you in the right direction! |

thanks for that link! it helped a bit but my car is a 2008 and it talks about a 2006. i purchased it brand new with only 8 miles on it. im only at around 3500 miles and the rattle started to occur at about 2500. like i said previously before, local driving/high rev'ing,i dont hear or feel anything wrong with the car, but when i go onto the highway/parkway and go above 73 mph or so theres a crazy rattling sound in the engine bay. if i chill at around 70mph everything's fine. i know it may seem like a minor problem now, but im just worried about the long run or it affecting and creating other problems. im sorta just waiting around till im due for my first maintenance oil to bring it in and have it checked out. the pain in the a$$ part is, im considering about taking off the injen sri and putting the stock air box back in cause they might blame it on the aftermarket mod. i wonder if anyone out there has the same problem as me with a 2008, specifically a civic si sedan, or just plain out throw me some ideas on what to do.

check whether the front grill is over or under the top where it sits. Mine did the same when put back in the wrong place ( after putting HID's in). That occurred above 70mph only also.

wow i cant believe it was something that simple. i feel like an idiot! mustve not snapped it back underneath the grill when we put the intake in. i looked at it yesterday and noticed that it couldve been it. so i put it back in place, took it for a test drive on the parkway. drove like 15 mins doing 80 then took it up to 90 for a bit. nothing, no sound or rattle. even thought it was my first mod to the car, i feel like such a noob! thanks for all your help guys. and jrotax101. you solved my problem! much love! :)
