But like I said I've gotten 32mpg average over the last 9k miles. Many of my trips home from work I get above 40mpg. |

I've been by many R18 owners and they've taken off on me but I wasn't trying to race them or act ego-ish. I don't ever show anyone what the Si is capable of doing cause I don't wanna get a ticket. I just laugh at people when they do that cause they're just wasting their gas. It's mindboggling when people in gas guzzlers like SUV's and trucks act stupid like this guy today in a DODGE truck when I was going to the Chevron gas station. He was acting stupid and I started hitting it a tiny bit and he started to fly past me as if I was going to beat that damn HEMI and if I wanted to waste my gas. Most people do this cause they can't tell I have an Si cause all of my badges are off. His girlfriend was in the truck too looking at me and I wasn't about to lower myself to them. I could've whipped out my johnson at her and then hit Vtec and then hit the E-Brake and drift right into a side road and be done with that but I wasn't stupid like them 2 rednecks. ![]() Last edited by Johnold; 05-10-2008 at 08:19 PM. |

much better than each side hammering out why si/r18 is better than the other. Both are much better than 70% of the cars on the road. And each car (si or r18) is in the top 5% of there respected class. |

I still don't understand why everyone is arguing... two different cars for two different drivers...
I got an EX because I was getting my first car, didn't want to pay for premium gas, higher insurance, and more upfront or monthly. I got my EX in July 2006 and the SIs were in high demand and way above MSRP. I drive my manual EX (hard too, btw) back and forth from work 5 days a week (thats a ~25 mile trip alone, everyday) not to mention school and around town. Living in Jersey we have the cheapest gas ~3.40 right now. I put $20 in my tank, every sunday. I doubt I would be able to do that in an SI. Would I like to have an SI? Sure! Is it convenient based on the driving I do? Nope. Why would I have gotten an SI when I get all the features you guys have except a bigger engine, suspension, and SI/Vtech decals? If I was in a different situation, hell yeah I would have gotten the SI. But to me they are both the same car, its just one happened to fit my driving habits better better than the other. My car isn't fast but it's fast enough for ME. (That is the only thing that matters after all, that the car suits the driver.) Driving 'fast' in Jersey is hard to pull off anyways with all the state troopers and police we have that are hard on traffic laws. Everyone should just shut up with their MPG vs HP because its pointless. R18's aren't the best car out their for MPG and SIs sure as hell are not the fastest cars out there, even for their price. (I've seen SIs get killed by SRT-4's and Cobalt SS's that are around the same price.) Be happy with what you have. Civics are fun, inexpensive, and good on gas no matter which trim you have. Jeeze. For now I'm happy with my Civic EX with a Magnaflow exhaust that still ran me under 20g total. Last edited by DRMex06; 05-10-2008 at 08:31 PM. |

I respect all HONDA people. It takes a unique person to want a HONDA cause of all the BS people say about HONDA's. We must all think alike in this forum cause we all love and have a passion for HONDA. I'll most likely use HONDA for the rest of my life. Honda was my first car and will always be my choice.
I like all HONDA drivers cause they're driving a HONDA. We're all the same. Although there are HONDA drivers that are A-holes. I'm waiting for my PapaJohn's pizza to get here. I'ma try out that Chicken Bacon Ranch flavor. mmmmm!. I'll have a slice for all my 8th peoplez!. Last edited by Johnold; 05-10-2008 at 09:44 PM. |

Yeah lets go bond over a few pitchers at a bowling alley lol
I chose the Si because its the civic with the best equipment and I enjoy the sporty look and feel. Its truly therapeutic to drive and really relieves stress for me...sooo much fun. I also live in michigan so in the rain and snow the VSA system that is only on the Si trim helps me out. (I think in 09 they will offer it on more trims) I didn't even know the Si now had this and was very happy to see it during the test drive. :) Plus I knew...I just knew if I went with a lower trim I would regret it
