discussion was about being a Honda enthusiast not how fast. Si embodies the Honda sporting philosophy while the R18 embodies kick ass economy.

if your not into Honda's that's one thing... but comments like that about your cars superior sibling only means you wish you had one and need to project it. i can count the number of fabricated excuses R18 owners make to justify their short Cummings. being an enthusiast justifies for OP to get a bargain of fully loaded top model car if he has the opportunity and resources to own one.

you would have won ROTM if you didnt ball on budget with the car then make up for it with rims worthy of an Si or better. dont let the OP make the same mistake if hes an enthusiast.

IMO: not against tricking out r18 but when i see one that looks awesome with expensive mods then i learn that its a DX/LX or even EX even worse auto takes all the steam out and leads to judgment on my part towards them cause its obvious settled with less, and i politely grin and walk away. when i see a R18 driver i think that its nice to see them driving a quality car, but when i see a Si i know he/she is an enthusiast. its sad cause i see kids with tricked out R18 around town and they either will not catch up to me or keep a straight face, but a Si owner usually will catch up to me or vice versa to acknowledge each other. now that's enthusiasm and community/forum joining worthy.

plus on a civic forum have a little respect for the poster child. im sure the FD1 owners dont say stuff like that about FD2's cause everyone knows its the highest avail factory model and is just ignorant to down there own cars highest pedegree.
Yeah I think I'll wait for the 09 civic and trade in my LX for an Si because like you said, it's stupid to upgrade it any further. I just don't want to give up the great gas mileage with $4 a gallon gas looming in the future.

Pros:
Great gas milage, I get 34-37, most owners on this site get 30-33.
Safety, dual front, dual side, and dual side curtain airbags standard, good crash tests.
Reasonable price, MSRP is just under 17 grand.
Decent sound system. 160 watt six speaker(for coupe) four speaker(sedan)
Pretty good acceleration for manual, okay acceleration for Auto
Pretty good handling on the coupe (stiffer shocks and springs than sedan) if you buy a set of performance tires.

Cons:
Brakes suck. Puny discs up front, punier drums in back.
Stock tires suck. Poor traction on dry pavement, worse on wet (aftermarket performance summer tires work very well though)
Stock wheels suck. 16 inch. steel wheels and plastic covers.
this is the example of a realistic educated owner

I finally got away long enough to pick up my Si springs and shocks!!! Hopefully, in the next few weeks, I'll be able to carve out enough time to install them and get an alignment. After my Si test drive, I'm really looking forward to upgrading my suspension!

To me, the suspension, brakes, and steering are the best features of the Si. Brakes and steering are expensive to upgrade, but thankfully, suspension improvements are cheap and easy to do! I know the Si engine is stronger than the 1.8 liter, but I can live with my engine as long as it handles well!

Slowly but surely, it's getting better!

Won't the Si springs make your car ride higher?
