New here and question about insurance
Well I would like to start off by saying that I really like the environment here, its not like Honda-tech.com. People are nice here. I am selling my 1998 Integra GSR and I am really considering getting a four door si, I already test drove one and I will be able to put $8000 down and I work for my dealership chain so employee pricing is $100 over invoice (is that good). I have never bought a car from a dealer before and I most definately really want this car. Is the Si four doors insurance less because of its four door status and how roughly are people paying here for it? I was paying about $220 a month for my GSR, a bit much for me but thats what I get for 2 speeding tickets, my first one drops off in August. Any help is very appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Insurance cost varies by region, sex, age, driving record, etc... so asking a bunch of us will not give you an accurate assessment. My advice to you is to goto geico.com or progressive.com and get 2 separate quotes for a SI coupe (FG2) and sedan (FA5). The process is not that painful, you will have to enter all your info + driving record (15-20mins tops).
Alternately, you can just call your current auto insurance agent and get a quote on the spot! As for the price, $100 over invoice is a great price. Some members here have gotten under invoice pricing usually due to leftovers from an end of the year model change. Visit edmunds.com to view invoice pricing for nearly any car. BTW, welcome to the site! Last edited by habitat; 05-02-2008 at 02:35 AM. |

This is something I looked into before buying a Civic. For the EX trim and my personal situation there was no rating differences between a 2dr vs. 4dr or stick vs. automatic. For some reason, Civic was slightly more expensive than a Corolla to insure but the difference small. This is not a bad car to insure and within @ $50/yr of what I was paying on an '04 Impala.

How old are you if you don't mind me asking?
You are getting a great price on the car, so that's a good thing. When I worked at a dealer everyone there loved me and I could not get any better of a deal on a RSX-S than some dude walking in off the street. By the price of your current insurance I'd say you will be paying a good ammount more once you get a new car. If you don't currently have comprehensive and collision coverage on the Acura then based on what you are currently paying your insurance is going to skyrocket, esp if you are younger since you mentioned you have a few tickets. Best thing would be to call your insurance agent. I walked into my office before I got my Si to do something for my motorcycle and got to talking to my agent. She was playing around with things in the computer and showing me how if I didn't get an Si I'd be paying this much, or if I had no speeding tickets I'd be paying that much (and holy crap it was so much cheaper!!). Seemed like it was really easy for her to give me different quotes. Last edited by volvo9; 05-03-2008 at 11:48 AM. |
