ticket
I got a ticket last night on my way home from a friends house. The cop pulled me over for an "alltered muffler" he said u cannot change ur muffler in florida. The ticket says Muffler Altered Excessive Noise/ Warnning on tints section - 316272. I think this is a bull shit ticket.

Excessive noise they can site you for. Check you local statutes regarding the modified exhaust, but it is probably wrong.
Best bet is to research the legal noise limit and have your exhaust tone measured. Research the modified exaust laws. If you find they you were within the limits of the law, take it court.

Skunk2 website says 105db w/o silencer. Put in a silencer and you get max 9 db improvement (65% less noise for those of you who don't know dB conversions), which is still 96dB. Washington state is 80dB max and most states are around that limit. I have the 70mm and no tickets yet. I keep the silencer in though.
I know none of this info helps your case, just presenting the facts: we all know the exhaust is too loud lol |

As far as I know... skunk2 70mm is the only exhaust that, while using the stock header, goes above the decibel limit.

unless they whip out a decibel reader then they have no evidence in court ... just like a speeding ticket... they need a Radar reading to pull u over and have proof..
they can't tell the judge "it sounds too loud" ... thats how i got off on my ticket for my old car.. i told the judge he didn't have a reading on how loud it was.. then she said something along the lines of no evidence etc.. but i don't know the laws down there. |
