I see a problem measuring the exaust while in a muffler shop. When the car hits VTEC, its going to be MUCH louder. The car by default won't allow you to rev over 5500RPM while stationary so unless they have a dyno, you won't know the actual db of the exaust.

OKay so the law in florida doesent say u cannot alter ur muffler it just says it has to be within the DB limit. I kno that im not but the cop did not take a DB reading.

Exactly, but with your exhaust how it is, it is still not legal.
You could fight it, but they could require you to get a decibel reading.

Statute 316.293 (5)

(5) NOISE ABATEMENT EQUIPMENT MODIFICATIONS.--

(a) No person shall modify the exhaust system of a motor vehicle or any other noise-abatement device of a motor vehicle operated or to be operated upon the highways of this state in such a manner that the noise emitted by the motor vehicle is above that emitted by the vehicle as originally manufactured.

(b) No person shall operate a motor vehicle upon the highways of the state with an exhaust system or noise-abatement device so modified.

Bullshit ticket designed to give the state revenue. This does not fall under "to protect and serve". **** the police.

The cop dident hit me on 316.293 he got me on 316.272 which is about running with out a muffler r something related. By the way 293 is talking bout highways is that some kind of loop hole? I think this is such bull shit and if the cop wrote me up on the wrong thing would that be enough to get the ticket thrown out in court?

Highways may be considered a public road as well I think. Especially if the road has a number as well as a name. And if the cop wrote you a ticket for the wrong thing I'm pretty sure you can get out of it. Call a lawyer to find out for sure.

Agnt004 R u sure that Statute 316.293 is applied to me in miami? I got the ticket while on this rich lil island called key biscayne wich is a "villiage". Do u guys think i should fight this, I think I can win. The cop got me on the wrong stature and I Think that is enough to fight the ticket, he aslo did not measure the DB. He was also a dick which makes me want to fight it just to piss the cop off. Have any of u gone to court for this issue?

I think since he gave you the wrong statute that you might have a chance. The statute I got hit with did not list decibels as an issue, only that it was modified.
