What do flashers mean?

So tonight I detailed my car and took it out on a cruise in a nearby city just to enjoy the spring air (75F goodness) and just doddle around town.

This has never happened to me before, mostly because I have previously driven an Acura Legend and an MX6, but every single import I drove near tried to race me. I was just cruising at 43mph in a 45, with traffic ahead, and this bozo driving an MR2-turbo slows down to me and floors it a few times trying to egg me on. Finally he just hits it and I'm still enjoying my cruise. I almost laughed.

Literally a few minutes later, a TSX weaves through traffic and gets right beside me in a low gear. Again, off he goes as I turn into the right turn lane.

Finally, I am driving towards the interstate exit to head home, and some silly Sentra SE-R floors it and almost hits my rear. He then weaves around three lanes of traffic just to get to the light beside me. So I am sitting there at the light, and two Homied-out kids were looking back at me as they leaned WAY to far back in their seats. The light turns green, I start to go, and the idiot just launches his car. At no point do I even try to take the bait, and when he's about 2-bus-lengths in front of me, he gets into the exit lane and hits his flashers.

What does that mean? That I lost a race I wasn't involved in? That I should have raced? That he is a douchebag? I don't get it.

Is this kind of crap what I am to expect my wife to endure when she starts driving the Si? I am worried for her safety after tonight. Does this happen to you other Si drivers?

Yeah it means he won the race and he's gloating. Sadly, I see this happen all the time. People floor it past me, cut me off and then put on the flashers like they just won something.

I had an si coupe ricer.....come right next to me.... He downshifted and was tagging with me forever....

He seemed modded (I could hear his lousy exhaust)....and he wanted to beat a stock SI with a 190 pound passenger (my uncle) and trunk full of clothes and shoes......

i was like whetver ...

floored it...lol big mistake

and he just took off with blinkers/flashers.....

so we go up to a light......and he starts revving at an old school V8 mustang......

I was like wtf is wrong with this douche....

I had to take a left turn..... and all I saw was him chasing after the mustang....

srsly some ******* persistent Si owner.

The Civic Si, the pinnacle of ricer mobiles. Sadly there is a stigma with driving most Hondas and especially the Civic Si.

Get used to it or get rid of it.

Civic Si has nothing to do with its people. Civics in general are stereotyped ricer cars because of the people who mod them poorly.
Theres a problem with anyone who owns a sports/sporty looking car, people will always try to race you.

I love the opening story....not that you now fear driving the Si and the drivers around but because this same thing happened to me yesterday...

Turning left to get on the freeway from work, this kid makes the turn wide on purpose into my lane and i slam on my brakes to avoid getting hit....naturally the reaction would be to slow way down but i quickly pulled into the other lane and maintained my speed...he got next to me and started barking shit out the window about how i'm slow...so i dropped it into 2nd and took off never to see him again....He's probably still trying to get to 60...lol

As i get on the freeway and am doing 66 in the middle lane, an accord speeds past at 75ish and slams his brakes to slow down with me and does the same thing...starts accelerating and decelerating trying to get me to race....I literally looked over and laughed hysterically.....

This happened in 2 exits time(3 miles). It happens all the time so get used to it. Unfortunately, your wife might get it worse because they see a female driving an Si and have an even higher carnal need to race. It's weird cause it happens to my gf all the time when she drives it.

lol wow.

I use my flashers after passing someone doing 10 under the limit in the left lane to drive home the point that they are slow moving. Street racing FTL.

Some states require you to use flashers whenever you use your vipers. Maybe he was just complying with the law.

Virginia has nothing like that. Headlights are required with the use of wipers. I am thinking that he was just a ricer that thought he won a race against a car that wasn't racing.

I don't know ho it is in VA but in Florida the initiator will try and get your attention by down shifting or revving or in general being stupid, if you make eye contact that means you accept the challenge, then the initiator does three beeps like ready set go and you floor it and apparently you win by outrunning them. Don't do it, it's childish, dangerous and you are just asking to get arrested especially in Virginia, I hear those cops are brutal.

You want to know what flashers mean?

It means someone needs to grow up.

or an emergency.
