what are you trying to accomplish? what do you want to do the equation?

that is the same thing as x^-3/y^-4=y^4/x^3

killing me!!!!

is a quesiton im trying to answer for school that i cant figure out.

it says, "use the properties of exponents to simplify x^(-3 power) divided by y^(-4 power).

a) x^(4) over y^(3)

b) (xy) -3/4

c) (xy) 3/4

d) x^(3)y^(4)

I think its A. I think all you have to do is flip the powers and reverse the negatives to positives. SOrry guys just hoping i can get some help since i suckkkkkkkkkkk at math.

OH SHITTTTT """""""""""""MIX and MAXIMO U GUYS R THE SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!"""""""""""""""""" I JUST SAW UR ANSWER IT SOUNDS RIGHTTTTTT TO WHAT I PUT DOWN, WHAT A RELIEF! thank you guys and sorry for the stupid post lol.

Well while im here i might as well say i think them se-r spec v owners have alot of respect for us, especially for Hondata. i went snooping into my specv.com the other day and they love to race 8thgen SI but no matter what, they say that after 3rd-4th the si always pull on them, and as per hondata they wish they had a little something like. Man i haven't gotten my Si yet, im still saving up but cant wait, its good to know what your planning to get urself into sometime. Well thanks again guys, take care. Keep talking about math if you would like cuz ill be listening. Peace!

so with what you posted...

when you divide 2 fractions, its the same thing as multiplying the top, by the reciprocal of the bottom. the reciprocal is just the fraction, flipped. for example, the reciprocal of 2/3 is 3/2.

so when you multiply the top by the recip. of the bottom, it becomes,
2y(y^2+7y+10) all over (y^2+5y)(y^2+y-2)

now you can factor (y^2+7y+10) to become (y+5)(y+2)
and (y^2+y-2) becomes (y+2)(y-1)
you can also pull out a y from (y^2+5y) to become y(y-5)

so it now becomes...
2y(y+5)(y+2) all over y(y-5)(y+2)(y-1)

then you can cancel things out because they equal 1. the two (y+5)s turn into one or cancels out, the (y+2) cancels out, and the y's (2y and y) cancel out to leave...

2/(y-1)

solve it for y. add 20 to both sides. then divide it by 5 for both sides. if you divide by a negative number, you have to change <= to >= but you dont so you can keep it how it is.

when you solve for y you get 4/5x+4<=y
then you compare it to y=mx+b, where m is your slope, and b is your yintercept

so (0,4) is a point then you rise 4 and run 5

k. you should be able to do the rest of your hw cuz i explained it a lot. aka... im not trying to do all your hw but i will help you.

then you pick a point that doesnt hit the line. like 0,0... if you can. if it agrees with the equation, then shade that area. if it doesn't, then shade the other portion of the graph
