As per my short time as a Z driver, I completely agree. Quote:
The storage space is pretty lacking, obviously. I went on a road trip & fit a decent sized duffle bag, a sleeping bag, a 3' x 1' x 1' box, & two pairs of shoes & the hatch space was basically gone. I may have been able to squeeze something else, but you get the idea. I did average 31.5mpg on that tank (bit of a misnomer-- I was on a closed-access road with a 55mph speed limit for almost 200 miles). One of my favorite things about the car, I'd say, is its usable power. I love being in sixth gear & should I need to quickly get around someone, downshifting isn't necessary. I doubt I've provided any new insight, but that's what I've thought of off the top of my head. If you have any specific questions, PM me or post here (faster reply with PM as I don't log in all that often) & I'll be happy to reply. Don't forget the price of parts-- tires are expensive as **** on a rear wheel drive car, especially if you get into wide wheels. I'm ordering 10.5" wheels soon-- I'd ordered tires for my EP the day it was crashed & paid about $420 shipped. Tires for my new wheels will be about $850. Shut up, no you don't.. Quote:

[quote=KManZ;2603678]Low 14's? Incorrect. With a good driver, the 07+ are running 13.1 in the 1/4, STOCK, aka no slicks. I can get you a time slip as proof if you want. Low 14's... where did you dig that up?
low 14's is more accurate than 13.1... they run mid to high 13's at best stock still fast..lol but not 13.1 stock.. |

The Z is a great car, I love everything about it, but I will be the first to say that there are faster, more economical, better handling cars out there: Evo & STi for starters, and for more bank you get into the Porsches, M3's etc. But keeping in the $30k range, what other car offers a good balance of everything? (Not counting looks because they are subjective...)
Also remember, the Z is aging; when it first debuted in late '02, what could compare? Obviously, 6 years later, most other companies have met and exceeded the benchmark made by the 350. The car still competes, but it has been surpassed, as it should be. I guess we will see what the next gen has to offer, but to dog on the current Z is asnine. |

13.1 stock... I said before I can show you slips. I probably couldn't run a 13.1 in mine, but then again I have never been to the track. But for sake of argument, there have been more than a few drivers who have hit 13.1-13.2 in completely stock form. lol New HR Records!!!! As far as brand loyalty, I couldn't give a flying (don't kill me ethlar) about brand bashing. I've owned a Dodge, a Pontiac, a Honda, & now a Nissan. But that's not the point. You never "walked all over Z's" or however you said it.

Wow, alot of stupid asses here. I own an FA5 and it isn't much compared to a well-kept stock Z. I've driven Cow's track edition 350Z and my impression is it will do everything better than my FA5. Maybe with I/H/E and some kind of Hondata, a 06+ SI would give a stock 350Z a good straight line race. Well good for you! You beat a stock car with your modded one, at mindless gas pedal stomping. The new SI's aren't great handlers either, my first day out at a local autox in my single cam crx, I was within a second of all the new Si's. Car is too heavy to transition and carry the speed of stiffer and/or lighter cars and doesn't have the torque to exit turns clean. Good thing I took my 18 year old car, and not my new SI, it's better left to my wife for looking pretty in.
At what point will people realize that cars do more than accelerate in straight lines? I love the Civic crowd that thinks it's logical to drag race. My FA5 is so boring I'm trading it in for a slower, FUNNER car, a 01-03 NB Miata. Enjoy that FWD, enjoy that no torque, TERRIBLE DBW, grabby brakes, 3rd gear grind, cheap paint, scuffed interior panels, and a steering wheel that looks like a vagina. The Z has NONE of these problems. If I still have my FA5 next time Cow (350z) is in town, I'll race him and get it on video and post in this thread again. |

SI is going to be cheaper to drive as far as gas/insurance/modifications/maintenece goes and with simple bolt ons I/H/E/Reflash should keep up with a Z. also if your gonna be buying it, honda's resale value is like 12% higher then Nissans (feel free to think im wrong as I work at a dealership and deal with this stuff daily)

When are they going to redesign the Z? I'm tired of seeing the same old tired design. I saw a few spy shots of the so called new Z, but they weren't all that new looking to me.

The resale of a Honda is much higher, so it makes used Z's extremely affordable and almost makes the idea of an SI silly considering the essential differences for the price. The gas arguement was already shot down earlier, insurance almost becomes a moot point when you're 25 and don't have a shit driving record. I'm amazed people overestimate their Si's sooooo much. It's pretty scarey. |
