350z doesnt impress me at all. with looks and sound, yeah, but performance no. I have I/E with good driving skills and I owned two stock ones already. but to get on topic it would vary on what you want. Honda is "honda" and will be better in the long run. 350z aresexy lookin cars but dont have any bite at all to back up that bark. |

Most 350z's with manual transmissions suffer oil consuming problems. 1000 miles 1 quart of oil they are consuming. They will only continue to consume because there is no fix yet. They came out with a V2 of the infamous VQ engine, but still is consuming. If you like getting your engines replaced every couple of thousands of miles go for it, but don't waste your time on a 350z unless its automatic, which ruins the point of driving it.

^ Lot's of 05-06 manual trnamission 350z's and 05-07 manual transmission g35's suffer from abnormal oil consumption and Nissan has been very reluctant to do anything about it...There is a TSB out for both cars...Checkout MY350Z.COM - NISSAN 350Z (Z33) FORUMS, GALLERY, CHAT, AND MORE. and G35DRIVER.COM - INFINITI G35 (SKYLINE) FORUMS, GALLERY, CHAT, AND MORE. and type in oil consumption in the search box and you'll find a wealth of info...I just got rid of my 06 G 35 coupe that had minimal consumption(1.5 qts consumed every 3,000 miles)...The G handled on rails but I had lots of suspension mods....I'd go with an 08 si over a used 350z...Plus having no back seat sucks

Get a new Si. I was in the same dilemma with an Si and a G35. Opted for the used G35 and have had many problems. Kind of regret it now. I get like 17mpg and I dont even push it. And parts are just so much more expensive.
unless its an 07+ 350z with the HR engine, go with the Si.

I think my Z is the best car I've owned! It was an '05 MT; zero problems.
That being said, I'd be extremely cautious about buying a used one. A LOT of people DO beat on them. I think the more important question would be if you need more then 2 seats. Are you prepared to go through tires that aren't cheap? If you are doing it for economical reasons I'd say get the Si. If you are just looking to upgrade and are prepared to have the expenses that come with it, I'd say get the Z. |

Word. The HR motor in the '07+ 350Z is amazingly stout, has about 30 more hp (before SAE correction), higher redline, and doesn't burn oil like the 300hp 05-06.
You drive a 4th Gen Eclipse? How do you like? I had a 3rd Gen before my first 350. You have anything done yet?Quote:

^^definantly no bite to back it up. If you talk about performance than no a Z aint sh*t right out the box. 300hp and 3.0l with all that tq only runs low 14s with a good driver. With mods its different but overall the si is a better car. You can run low 14s with slicks and a good driver, on a stock car. Its already been done. And with minor upgrades you can get into the high 13s without a reflash, like udumkid. So yeah, no bite or even a threat from a Z. A supra is more in that category in terms of power, tq, and a 3.0l. I'd like to see you compare a Z to that my friend. Not even a contest.

You should contact the member here named holy EFFING cow, he just came out of an ep3 (totalled, freak accident) and picked up a 350z and the only thing he regrets is not doing it earlier.
I personally would go for the z. They're nice as hell, look great (especially modded), and, from what I hear, are a blast to drive. Plus it's rwd and has tq, which are always great things. If you just want FWD I would definitely toss it up between the si or the mazdaspeed 3 if I were going new, or a used srt4 or ion redline if used were an option. Anyways, that's my .02 |

si..for safety.. 350z if your a good driver friend had one 2 weeks later totalled it..then got a audi tt quattro roadster ... im not a big fan of rwd to tell you the truth its really fun to whip the back end all over the place but its not safe lol.. dad had a rwd jag xkr almost killed myself driving that thing ....get a WRX... 4wd ftmfw .. a wrx with light exhaust mods is a beast.. and ecu upgrades up the boost its game over and will eat a modded 350z or si alive.. only complaint I have about the subbie is the interior but I would still take it over my si..

Lets only talk about stock cars. Otherwise you would have to give the Z the same mods as you put on your car for any comparison to be valid. The silly ricer "my modded car can beat your $30k car" is crap. Lets be fair here. Toyota Supra... your point? What does it have to do with a 350Z? You want me to admit the Z isn't the fastest car on the road. Surprise! I admit the 350 isn't the fastest car on the road. You win. |
