props from an STi owner

today while at a shell station refilling my tank a ups truck stopped by. some dude walked out and started giving me props on my mugen si and said he drives an STi. said a few of his friends already modded their STi's to 400 plus and his is bone stock so we exchanged a few words. i think he also said he had previously a b16 turbo eg hatch also. but yea, feels good getting props from STi owners out there for the widely hated mugen.

it's nice to meet people out there who aren't biased against a car b/c of its name, but appreciate it for what it is.

no offense to anyone but id rather pay 30grand for a Mugen Si than 38grand for a new STi.

the Mugen, is i think about 6-7grand overpriced, while the STi is about 10k.

I'd say the Mugen is about 4k overpriced and the STI is about 8k overpriced.

are you serious?

in the other thread cobalt SS you said that the Si was 2-3k overpriced. you also said that anyone who would buy an Si would only be for performance.

do you really think that the performance is really going to be improved that much for the price?

30k-4k = 26k. thats 300HP RWD 350Z territory.

To me, nearly 300 HP and an advanced AWD system is worth 30 gs. I base prices off the segment they're in. Hence why I think the SI is overpriced, because it costs as much as the other cars in its segment and offers less in terms of performance.

right, so how does barley increasing performance, mean that price should increse by thousands? (in the Mugen, that was my main question)

im mean lets think. you think that the Si should be worth about 19k right?
and you think that that the Mugen is worth 26k right?

so where is this 7k of performance, because people only buy an Si for performance according to you.

and lets just think about this 26thousand dollars. you think that just because the Mugen is FWD, its ok to be priced nearly as much as a RWD car with 100 more HP just because being FWD puts it in a different segment? if its a luxury FWD i understand. but according to you, Si = performance.

It dosent matter its still better looking and funner to drive then any other car in its segment none can match the quality or fun factor its that simple. Thats why they sell like hot cakes and have a 2 month wait half the time they are that good. I love reving the crap out of my motor and seeing people stare its a little F1 sexyness

I think the limited availability of them (only so many being produced), the improved suspension, nicer exhaust, nicer wheels/tires and the lip kit is worth the 7 grand above the regular SI.

They should have made ALL mugen's navi.

If i could slap some shit into the H&R people at Honda, i coulda told them what they could have done to make the Mugen worth the money...Cosmetic wise.

Mugen Si's price FTL!! Unless I'm a car collector or something similar...I will never buy a Mugen Si for almost 30K.
