Cool Rock Chips....on WINDSHIELD

anyone have a problem w/ this on their 8th gen civic? Yesterday the car in front of me & flipped up a nice rock (i heard it hit but didn't know where)...now the top of my windshield has 2 small chips in it about the size of a ball point pin tip.

Do you think it is necessary to get these fixed?
Anyone else have a problem w/ windshield chips?

my car has less than 2k miles on it too

If you see a little crack kind of inside the glass then yes get it fixed. If its just a pit in the glass there is no point. If you take it to a place that repairs them they should tell you if you need to fix it or not.

Never had it happen until I moved to Texas. Now I have a 1 foot long crack in it. The car got it while parked!! You're lucky, the little guys (under 6") are fixable. You can either get a kit or some glasshops will do it for $25 or so bucks a chip.

my windshield shimmers in teh sun from all the pits in it. I drive a grueling route daily in LA traffic, and there is often sand on teh freeway, no idea why but it's there. I will need a new windshield soon. I have 52k on my 06

Fix it up before it turns into a a crack starting from the top of your windshield and ending at the bottom.

No rock chips yet on 7k miles. You should get it fixed before it gets worse.

This happened twice with my last car and a few before that, the long cracks can lead to tickets and warnings from cops. Just make sure the windshield relacement guy re applies the inspection sticker to the new glass without mangling it.

if you have a rock chip you might want to see if your insurance will cover getting it repaired for free for you. I know most insurance companys take care of rock chips. You should fix it right away before it spreads and you need to replace the whole thing. Also if it is on your drivers side and in your line of vision they wont fix it and see about getting it replaced.

as long as it's smaller than a quarter, you can get it fixed for about $25 bucks

Shit just wait until you hit 15k like i did it wont stay new forever, theres always going to be someone or something to do something to it. My front end is caked with chips and so is the windshield, thats life learn to deal with it. Will you care when you hit 20k? 40k? 60k?

i dont think its possible that it would crack if it was a small dip. but if was deep, i would get it fixed since the windshield is extremely fragile.
