Age makes no difference to me. I'd talk with anyone.
I rolled up on an older Trans-Am last week with a guy who looked like he was in his mid 40s. It was a gorgeous car. He had his windows down, so I rolled mine down to say I liked his car. When I rolled my window down he had a 'bad' look on his face, as if he expected me to say something about shitty american muscle or something. But then when I said his ride was gorgeous he seemed pleasantly suprised and we had a short conversation about how he had just taken it out of storage and was driving it home. The light turned green and we had to go... but there was no one in front of either of us, so when the next light was red... we continued our convo and he was asking me if my car was a new Si, cuz he didnt recognize it w/ the HFP kit on it. Said he test drove one a while back and loved it, but couldnt stray from his 'baby'. We then parted ways.

^^ If folks think its 'bad' here, you should read the "what age of the IS350 owners thread" in the Lexus Forums. It is amazing how many 16-18 year olds have $40K+ cars.

I'm 22, so I guess I fit into the young crew. I've gotten compliments / comments from older gentlemen about my car. One day at the gym parking lot, a man in his 40s with a pontiac G6 stopped me and asked me about my car, how it drove etc. So I mean not all older ppl are like that. And if you think it's the "spoilt brat" thing, I doubt that, since the civic is very much a boy racer look (no offense to the older drivers out there, I hate it when ppl say that about my car too, but that seems to be the perception).
I'll be honest, I don't pay much attention to what other drivers think... my gf notices and tells me when she sees ppl staring at my car tho, but apparently most of them are looks of admiration (so she says). In the end, I wouldn't care as long as they don't put me in a dangerous situation. Cos when I'm in the road, I drive pretty slow... off the line at a stoplight, corollas and mazda 3s zoom past my Si thinking that I wanna race, which is kinda dangerous. I feel sometimes that I'm targeted for tailgating or racing, but that happened to me in my old car too. There are some really crazy drivers out there... Quote:
I understand the whole "spoilt brat" complaint, but price-wise those cars ain't all that bad if u get them used. |

Usually when I see a civic on the road and see a old person, I just think they made a good choice of picking a 8th gen. It has great reliability and fuel economy.
I hardly see SI's on the road so when I see one we just shaka. (Hawaii people) LOL. I'm part of the young drivers BTW. |

btw I usually dont pay attention to other civic drivers but its usually driven by girls. Except I've seen a GG Si sedan driven by some mature guy maybe around his 40s. Sometimes I can't tell whose driving the car cuz the windows are tinted. Last edited by AbsoluteGG; 03-23-2008 at 05:31 PM. |

As far as who's behind the wheel of an Si... I don't care, and if I can I will give them a wave.
![]() I laughed when I got my Si, every one of my friends my age or older asked me if i was going through a midlife crisis. I told one of them, "Yes I am... by the way, your daughter looks very pretty today." ![]() He knew I was kidding - besides, my wife was standing right next to me. ![]()

Honestly, what goes through my mind is, "Damn, that kid must get good grades in school". Because I know my kid is working for his own bus fare with a bad GPA.

I'm kinda in the middle... I am 29 yrs old. Actually many of my friends are in their 40's and they all think my car (08 si) is great. The catch is that most of the have kids and can't afford one. If I see a young kid (anyone under 21 in my book) in one of these cars, I would tend to think they they are missing out on an important part of growing up. Buying driving and maintaining a $500 piece of crap is massively important in my book. I drove crappy cars for 14 years before I got my first new car (a few days ago) I know A LOT about cars, registration, gaming the DMV, getting ripped off, breaking down in the middle of the night in west Texas, bank loans, down payments, haggling, ETC ETC. I got all this knowledge practically for free because I drove $500 cars. I also could afford to buy my first new car before my 30th b-day CASH with no loan. That was a good feeling, let me tell ya. If I see a young kid driving around in a matching car like mine... I would kinda feel sorry for them because they are missing out on a lot of life experience. They are loosing a lot of opportunity to learn many things about the world and how it works, and replacing that knowledge with debt. :>) Cheers!

I'm an "older" driver...37. But, thankfully, people are always telling me there's no way I'm that old. So, I guess I look like a young"ish" driver. Anyway, I don't care how old you are. If I see someone in an Si, I just assume they have taste. Now, I did pull up beside someone a few months after getting my '06 and they I initally thought it was an Si. Had the sticker and everything. However, when I took a closer look, the dash was lit in blue and the seats were tan. Obviously, took the time and $$ to purchase all the Si stickers, badges, etc to make it look like he had an Si. That made me think, LOSER. Anyway, great day guys!
