19.7 eh?

Last 2 times i have seen 8th gen civics with HFP kits (and that is rarely in this city) they were both people over 40. Thought it was a bit strange. Who knows though, i guess they just have great style!

I don't know if it was the fact that she just turned 16, or she was a woman. *ducks from all the other woman on the forum*

It all depends, I am 26. I see kids younger than me driving 05+ Hummers and nicer cars and it pisses me off cause there damn parents are not doing a damn thing to teach there kids responsibility and how to take care of money.

I have bought all but one car that I have driven (the 1 was my mom's car that I was sharing with her) including my first car that I bought off my parents for a steal but I still learned the importance of money.

consider yourself in the upper echelon of being a more knowledgeable person.

you can buy many things in life, but experience is definitely not one of those for sale to be bought, it has to be earned.

i can understand where ur coming from, but just b/c kids have nice cars, clothes, etc. does not mean they don't know anything about responsibility or money management. i can say that i've had it pretty easy/steady growing up, but at the same time, i was taught the importance of self-control and hard work. i got my entire college education for free not by my parents' help, but by scholarships. now that i'm settling down with my career, i have more $$ to blow but only spend it on necessities.

im 19 and i drive very conservatively and respect every driver (wow that sounded corny)
but when i was 17 and got my license i beat the shit out of my corolla "S" lol cause
i thought i was the shit cutting people off and blah blah blah i thought i was so cool ahah

i've learned from my mistakes

yes, i'm 19 and i had my si bought for me
am i spoiled? no
the effort i put into school, and helping the family
is enough for my dad to get me a new car lol

edit, guess i went off topic haha

when i see older drivers with similar cars or even similar taste in cars,
i think it's cool that honda drivers arent always punk teenagers =p

I'm 24 and I don't hate on young or old drivers. I do feel there are some younger people out there that just get handed a Si...unlike me. The younger drivers just need to appreciate what they have more than the older guys here. I like all Si drivers of all ages.

OP, I am 55. When I see another Si, I get quite excited even though many of the drivers will not acknowledge me or wave. Age means nothing to me.

Last November, I was going shopping and came to a classic stoplight that I live nearby that has a very long straightaway. It is two lanes that narrows down to one.

I was alone, when suddenly a '06 Black Si Coupe comes next to me at the light. I looked over and waved, thinking he would respond back. Instead, he scowled at me, dumped the clutch and laid a smokey burnout on me, leaving in a cloud of tire smoke.

I caught up to the guy at the next light. He did the same thing when the light changed. He was probably in his early 20's. I chalked it up to someone who isn't really into the community of 8th Gen Civics and let it go.

Lucky the next traffic light turn red and the Fiji pull up next to me. Turn out to be a really much older guy (Maybe 40s?). He gave me quite a nasty glare. Perhaps that is what I get for being 19.7 years old that still looks and mistaken as a 12 year old.

I was about to give him a wave anyway but when the light turn green he took off a bit before I did.

I have to say though, that Fiji with HFP kit sure made me wish I got Fiji instead. It look that damn good!

Well anyway...

How do you older drivers feel when you see a young driver driving the same car? Does the "what a spoil brat" go through your head?

How about you younger drivers feel when you see a much older person?

Honestly I felt a bit uneasy today. It look like he wanted to punch me in the face.

I don't know. If you had time to determine his stare was unsettling to you then I don't get why you never had time to wave to him before he took of soo fast at the light. Seems your judgemental thoughts may lead to hatred or cause a perception towards us old guys that we hate joung drivers of civic. So ,,,,,well just silly. Now if you cut off several cars on your way to that light than perhaps he gave you a glare for your reckless driving. See, thats not the case is it? Know what I'm gettin at?

And to answer your question about younger drivers in the same car,,,,,I generally put a wave out to the Si when I see one regardless of whos in it. Its like a biker thing.

Don't take me the wrong way from my 1st para, so this wave for you

^judgemental? lead to hatred?

a bit over analyzing there?

I like to wave to other civics and our rsx-s cousins if they happen to look over. But if you saw this guy's face, it would make anyone hesitate.

Reckless driving? naw... I don't even v-tec (gas prices ftl). Last time I v-tec was last semester when I ace my bio test.

Anyhow, thanks for the wave =P

-------------

The traffic light is a mystery. It is a three way intersection. Traffic light is always green for north and south but as soon as someone from the west road comes in. North and south traffic will turn red to let east traffic in. Usually I would slow down as soon as I see a car on the west road because I know my light will turn red. If slow down enough the light will turn green again before I reach the stop point. Thus gas is save!

Paul, you hardly count as older. You're a 24 year old trapped in an older body. It's all good though. I'm 31 going on 23.

I'm 35 and my Si has been challenged just a handful of times, only once by another Si driver. (A VW GTI guy couldn't resist revving at me on Rt. 100, even though I was driving with my wife.) If I see another Si, I usually try to make visual contact, even if the other driver is younger than me.

That's how I saw Gonzo when I was out of town on business in Richmond. My first and only time seeing a 8th member outside of my usual area.

i'm 23 and i live in a city where everything has an exhaust on it. lol. but i've noticed if i see a 8th gen on the road i'll usually slow down and try to wave. depending on the age i'd gauge by their driving style if they're mature enough to accept that we are on the same level and appreciate our cars. if not they'll usually blast the stereo and keep on high gear. I sometimes play around a few pulls here and there but nothing serious. i simply appreciate our cars for what they are & theres no point for me to show off.

just my .02

I'm NOT telling how old I am.
If a male blink at me. I'll give you the finger.
If you a female and blink at me. I'll blow a kiss and
If anyone wave at me. I'll will

Yet......I'm too focus on the street, my sound system, gps...etc....to notice anyone. Sorry if I don't care too much about you.

well i just turned 18 and havent really seen many old people drive sis. most of the time i just see old ppl driving non sis. but im guessing this one was a grandpa around 70-80, driving a GTI and what can i say he smoked me from a red. but anyways most of the time when i see 8ths ill wave to them, and i normally get the response of wtf look. maybe cause i look like im 8th grd when actually 18 yrs old. and ive been tailgated like mad by i guess a few 40+ ppl as well. im just driving after my night classes and i see some car always tailgating me when theres a free lane. do they expect me to go really fast with them as well? and on the highway one time there was a father driving and his son in the driver seat driving an accord and he was really tailgating me. i alrdy went up to 135 KM/H and hes still on my ass and then once i turn out of the lane to let him pass he turns away as well. wtf man. but other then that ill wave to any 8th i see out there young/old.
