Energy drink! Leave 1 redbull in the glove compartment in case the driver is sleepy and everyone else is sleeping!

Things to not forget:
Toilet paper, yes I am serious (some rest stops can be out)
Energy drinks do help IMO
Something to snack on, helps keep you awake by constantly moving/chewing
CDs/iPod some sort of music
Quarters/Cash (some people don't carry cash)
Map, should of took a left at Albuquerque
painters tape

thats all that came to mind so far

Energy drinks, good one.

I've never traveled anywhere with my XM radio, I assume I will be able to get the same stations all through the trip.

I just got back from a weekend trip from kansas (ohio to kansas and back again). I got about 340 miles before the light came on. Topped it off and it was only 10 gallons.

I second the part about music, although I like to mix it up with audiobooks (CD or iPod) because the constant beat of the music can sometimes make you drowsy...and then BAM! you hit an armadillo and can't react fast enough to keep control of the car. A few 360s and concrete barrier later and you're calling your fiance to pick you up at 1am...a really crappy way to finish off a long trip when your 20 minutes from the door...

Use Laminx on your head/fog lights!!! You're going to do alot of miles and the last thing you need is for them to get sandblasted. Digital tire gauge (with fresh batteries), iPod & charger, cell phone & charger, and Bluetooth headset.

haha, that's no fun at all.

I was also thinking of getting one of those shade things that go in the front window. Last year when I was down there in march it was 88, and to me...that's HOT. Interior would be on fire!

I have never seen the painters tape till I came to this forum!

Since I already have a clear bra on the front, I will just put some around the wheels where the stuff will be kicking up.

Mudguards and painter's tape on the outside of your rims to make cleaning brake dust easier? Mirco fibre cloths and a couple of bottles of detailer too for spot cleaning bird crap. Touch up paint wouldn't hurt either.

Cruising around 70MPH in my FA5 Si gets 32.5 MPG; as you approach the high 70s to 80 MPH that will drop to around 27 MPG. This includes VTEC on the on-ramps and occasional 4th gear passing.

I drive a lot of highway miles - this car loves the road. And 4th gear is the best highway gear (for responsiveness and acceleration) if you don't care about MPG...just don't keep it in 4th for hundreds of miles. Every time you get gas use the windshield washing tool at the gas station to clean bugs and debris from the front bumper and headlights.

I have a bucket with cleaning supplies, might even get a nice coat of wax on there if I have time.

wow 32.5@70 is great. I calculated all my times and speeds for 75mph, so I can expect 30ishMPG at this speed? That would work for me.

Averaged 75mph that trip...do some quick math....340 divided by 10....carry the two...wait...i got it....34mpg.

Just take it easy, don't rev it over 3 - 3.5k while accelerating on the onramps. Didn't use more than about 50% throttle the entire way and just set the cruis control.

nyc to boca cost me about 150 in gas one way (~2.89/gal). i drove there in mid august with the AC on the entire way and i got about 35mpg i think. still cant quite remember but as stated it was about 150 in gas. i had some water in the trunk and i took a sandwich with me because i left nyc at 6am. took about 20 hours with a stop around 10 or 11am for some fast food breakfast and maybe around 5pm for another meal and then as soon as i entered florida, i grabbed some late night kfc. i got to boca around 1 or 2am and went to bed. maybe an hour before i got there i got a red bull which i only drank like half of. i had a passenger with me so all i pretty much need to stay awake is someone to talk to me to keep my brain going. just make sure your tires are good. i had about 7500 miles on the car when i drove there. all i did was get an oil change before making the trip and that's about it.

only thing is to moniter how you sit in the Si seat. I leaned a little to my right and because of the design of the seat (assumption/opinion) i caught a bad pain in my lower right back for about a day or two in florida when i got there. that shit made me start thinking i had kidney stones but it went away. i gues try to sit as upright as possible and if not upright, at least centered in the seat. have fun. i cant wait to go on another long drive with the Si.

^You must have been going a steady 65 for that mpg.

if you wear contacts, make sure your glasses are in reach, not shoved in one of your bags in the trunk.

anybody from PA...

What is better to take across the state:

I-80 or I-76?
Both have tolls...Anyone know the correct amount?

Just wondering because there is only a 9 mile/7min diff between the two routes.

Thanks
