help! just bought a 2008 civic ex sedan...for $23,600

Hello everyone. I bought this car today and so far after reading what people paid for their civic's I feel ripped off. the msrp is $19,510 with no navi. After test driving the car, my dad, the dealer and I went inside and started talking. He told me the total cost with tax and other fees would come to $22,00. I told him that's too much and asked for $19,000. He said he can't do it so we settled at $21,00 out the door price. This was fine to me. Then came another gentlemen who was in charge of calling the banks and the paperwork. He told me with my credit score of 622, Only bb&t will give me the loan considering I have another car under my name which payment's are $333 a month. He told me with no money down I would pay $495 a month. I told him no way, I wanted $350. He said it's impossible considering my credit score, no money down. So I told him $400. He checked with his boss and came back saying that some money down it can happen. I told him I can only do $1000 down. He came back and said $425 with $1000. Then I told him I can only pay that with out the money down. He told me this is very hard to do. He came back and said the lowest is $440 with 7 year warranty and GAP. After thinking about and considering it with my dad I agreed. We shook hands and went to his office. There he gave me the papers to sign. While I read all of them and noticed the $700 gap charge, the $574 Resource life insurance charge, and the $1,300 extended warranty charge, I was under he impression this was all included and still $21,000 out the door. All the while we're having a nice conversation and I was pretty happy because I finally had the car I wanted. Then the last paper he had me sign read the total amount financed is $23,600. I asked him why this price and he responded that it's with all we talked about included. I signed anyways. I walked out and talked to my brother and he told me he bought his new 2006 ex sedan with navi for $23,000 out the door. I started worrying a little bit. Then I came to this forum and really worried after seeing the price most of you guys paid for the same car. I need to cancel the gap, the extended warranty, and the life insurance coverage which all of these add up to $2,600 which is what changed the final price from the $21,00 I was told. When I go back to the dealer tomorrow can I cancel these and if I can will I be able to readjust my monthly payment? If not what can I do? I feel sick to my stomach, and I feel ripped off. Sorry for the long story. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Uhm. Not to make you feel even worse than how you probably feel at the moment. But, I'd suggest you try to get a refund on the extended warranty and the GAP stuff. I paid even less than that for my NBP FG2 and I purchased it when they still had mark ups on them.

extended warranty is fully refundable within 60 days so cancel that ASAP. cancel the gap if you don't need it or have it with your car insurance company. the life insurance (WTF?) cancel that shit asap too. they should be refunded to your principal so your payments should remain the same. next time, ask the questions and review EVERYTHING before you sign...

I dunno where u from but in California there is no cooling off period which means just because you may think that your payment is too high or other various reasons that the sale can be canceled - it cannot. The moment you complete the sale and take physical delivery of your car (drive off the lot), there is no cooling off period in which to return the vehicle and rescind the sale.

Wow man, sounds like they got you for a couple BS charges. I would definitely cancel the gap and get it through your car insurance company, it's usually like $5 a month. And the life insurance WTF?!? You should have walked out when you saw the final total, they would have called you tomorrow begging you to come back and offered a lot better deal. That's what I did when my finance and I bought her car, they were ripping us off on the trade in, so we walked. They called the next day offering exactly what I was asking for

thank you for the replies. Does 21k out the door sound reasonable for 2008 auto ex sedan without navi?

Former car salesman here...

Did you drive it home yet, or is it still at the dealership? If you haven't driven it off the lot after taking ownership of it, you're ok. Also, since you did the deal on the weekend and the paperwork hasn't been submitted to the bank yet(possibly) you may be able to pull off the gap, extended warranty and other stuff.

I drove it home. So if it has already been processed to the bank the ext warranty and gap can't be taken off or will it just be very complicated?(fees etc.)
