all things aside...
it sounds like you got what you deserve. signing papers, and agreeing to terms that you just have no clue about? If youd done a little research before hand you could have avoided all of this. i hate dealerships, but you let them do whatever they wanted to you, and then you signed off on it, without even knowing what you were getting into. did they tell you GAP was required? thats a big no no if they did. |

that's not near as bad as here i think, I just bought a DX-G in saskatchewan for 21,500 with a 7yr extended warranty and various weatherproofing options (the winters here are brutal and the roads are heavily salted), with tax it's come to like 23,500 (11% tax in saskatchewan + $100 A/C tax!), it was like 19,000 before the warranty and weatherproofing
I still get a $1000 rebate from the gov't for the ecoauto program but still ![]() (the dx-g is a watered down LX basically, comes with a sound system w/ aux and mp3, air, no moonroof like the LX does here, and electronic power steering) |

Dealers pull all sorts of stunts to try to drive the price of their cars up. Have you ever noticed the seperate green price tag on the windshield? IMO it is a bunch of crap! They charge over the top for simple items. Pin stripe, wheel locks, trunk linner, window tint, extra paint protection, extra interior protection. That is some of the things they tried to charge me for when I traded my SI for a 08 Accord. They did get me for the $1800 honda care and another $549 for gap ins. My Credit Union who I a am working with to RF the car said that the flat rate for Gap Ins is $175. You pay more than that the dealer is putting the difference in their pocket. That is why they try to force you to get it. I aslo would bet that by the time the normal factory warrenty expires you could find another extended one for much less. I get offers in the mail all the time. Dealers also try to get you on the interest rate. Said best I could get no matter where I go is 6.98%, My credit union did it for 5.74%. Best thing you can to is go in with a pre approved loan. I think that one Problem with the dealers at times is that when they get the loan for you they have drived the price of the car over its true value! So they then try to force you to get the Gap Ins and Live Ins which is another big money maker for them and they drive the price of the car up. You should never pay more than MSRP, if even that. Go online and find the invoice price of the car you want. With that and a preapproved loan you stand a much better chance on getting a much better price for the car.

Canadian here:
I have a credit score of 759 and I went to go buy a vw rabbit. Wrote up the deal and go into the box for financing. Was told there that because of a loan I took 3 years ago, I would not be able to finance unless I out 5000$ down. He also told me that noone else would finance me for a car because of the loan I took previously. I phoned a Honda dealership inmy local area and they pre-approved me to buy a new civic si. I then got on the phone with some farther away dealerships. I was quoted 28595 for a civic si coupe in Edmonton plus tax and warranty. I shopped and ended up talking to a dealership in Vancouver. Picked mine up for $26974 plus tax and they threw in a extra 2 year, 40000km warranty. Ended up being 28354 after all said and done. I put a 1000$ down and drove it home. Ended up because of the interest rate I got with honda my payments are $22 per month more on an si then a rabbit. I am very happy!! |
