Got my Si 2 door for $22,700.
Just read your updated post and was amazed to find out that they refunded the car. Your reason was more than justified about how you had that bad taste in your mouth. Well put! ![]() Last edited by radiocontrolhead; 02-25-2008 at 09:52 PM. |

if you haven't take delivery you should be able to cancel the whole deal and not take delivery. i would look into that even though you have signed paper work. there is a grace period when you buy a car in some states.
you really did get ripped off. i would hope you had leather and a navi. but, you don't. |

apparently your warranty is through your dealer and not through HOA? HondaCare is bumper to bumper for up to 8 years/120k. I paid $915 for an 8 year/120k bumper to bumper warranty with $0 deductible online for my '08 Si. the prices on the accessories seem ok, but you got hosed in the warranty. I put $4k down on my Si (total 22,040 OTD), and am paying about $330/month on a 5 year @ 2.9%. (hell yeah for good credit)

$18875-$635 = $18240 actually, the math doesn't work out right on that at all... $18240.00 Sale Price +$ 635.00 Freight $18875.00 Subtotal +$ 877.06 Taxes $19752.06 Subtotal +$ 299.00 Processing Fee $20051.06 Total So the math is screwy somewhere, cause he's lost $6... Also, his taxes are off... 3% sales tax = $566.25 0.17% VA Dealer Tax = $32.09 So the totals should be: $18240.00 Sale Price +$ 635.00 Freight $18875.00 Subtotal +$ 598.34 Taxes $19473.34 Subtotal +$ 299.00 Processing Fee $19772.34 Total I'd ask him where the additional $278.72 comes from in his numbers. In fact, I'd go back and make sure he fills out the damn form properly for that matter. And above the line, write in the following things above total purchase price Vehicle Sale Price Freight and make sure he puts the numbers on the lines... Other than that, $20 OTD isn't bad for an EX Sedan... about what I was quoted from several dealers up in Fairfax county and in Montgomery County MD

Today I went to honda dealer #3 and found a 2008 civic sedan ex automatic. I went in to talk to a sales guy and asked him if he can beat the price of dealer #2 which out the door was $20,045. Obviously he said yes and said the lowest he can go is $19,700. I made it clear I was going to finance the car on my own with my credit union from the beginning. He explained that $19,700 OTD was with the dealer getting no profit and actually spending money on wheel locks, mats etc that are installed in the car. I told him no thanks and was leaving so he stopped me and said what price do you want? I told him $19,000 OTD. He said it's not possible but quickly said let me talk to my boss and took the buyer's notice I had from dealer #2. When I saw that he was making a copy of it I asked him what for to which he responded "it's so I can have your info to contact you". I told him I'm leaving but then he said "$19,200!!, We sign right now" I said no way, first give me that price in writing in a buyer's order so I can take it to my credit union to make the loan. Then he laughed and said "I see, You're not even ready to buy this car because I give this price yet you don't want to sign." I told him I needed a buyer's order so I can take it to my credit union(but I actually wanted it to take it to dealer #4 to get a lower price OTD). He said that they don't do buyer's order in writing, only in computer. So I left and he told me to come back and talk to him when I want to do business and get this car for $19,200 OTD. This seems like a good deal, what do you guys think?

HOLY CRAP I think he gets the fact that he was ripped off! Instead of trying to make the OP feel worse, why not offer some advice? BTW you lucked out that you brought the car back right away. You would have driven this car for 3 weeks then they would have called you telling you to bring the car back since your loan wasn't approved and probably would have charged you $50 a day and 50 cents a mile.

One other thing that has not been brought up, and it may not even matter depending on your situation.
It seems you have a low credit score and you are upside down on a Dodge truck. Now, unless you absolutely need to own a brand new EX, you might want to look into getting a used car to build your credit score. Yeah, the percentage of a used car loan is higher then a new one, but would you rather pay 7 percent or so on a 20k car, or would you rather pay 8 percent on a 10-12k for a year or so, improve your score, get right with the truck, and then look for a new car? It's hard to say. I don't know what your situation is. Just thought I would throw that out. However, good job on getting them to take the car back. |

Also, I tried searching through the site, but there are two threads I was looking for to make you feel a little better.
In one thread a member realized his/her 2006 Si cost him just over 40k (no joke). Another one a member posted up something around 36k. It's been awhile but I do recall that both people had horrible credit, which the dealership seized on and used it as a barging chip to really mess with the numbers. I'll keep looking....maybe someone else knows about them and could post the links? |

Hey OP, if you already have a $15,000 loan on a Dodge Dakota and your credit score is 622, what are you doing buying a brand-new car? No matter what price you get OTD, you are making a poor decision that will have a long term effect on your financial health.
My advice is buy a cheap used car to drive for a few years while you pay down debt and restore your credit rating. |
