Moral of the story: you got bullshitted by the number game that every dealership plays.

It is certainly not the best deal, neither is it a good deal.

My friend paid 19,068 for a Fully loaded EX/Auto with Navi from Loma Linda Honda. I paid 20,569 for my Si without Navi from the Fleet manager at the same place.

Alot of it depends on the time of the month, and year, and what you have as a bargaining tool.

Lesson learned. Move on.

Dude Im surprised your Dad fell for that shit. I paid 18500 for an 06 EX sedan when none were to be had (just came out) This included a 6 yr 100,000 warranty and remote start. No money down and less then 622 credit score..

I paid 21,500 out the door for my 2008 SI Sedan with virtually no miles on it.... So you paid basically 2k more than me and only got an EX? I think he screwed you hard.

so before taxes we settled on 20,300 or some crap like that..

go back, rip up the contract, and find another dealer.... you got hosed...

you paid MSRP & then some for it...

Invoice on a EX sedan is like 18k. he should more than easily be able to get down to 19000, even lower than that.

Buy the warranty online, and forget the rest of the crap they try to sell you. You could have bought an Si sedan at that cost (paying MSRP even)

i know for a fact that you can get the extendended warranty refunded, especially if its only been a couple days. what my dealer told me was that even if a year passes by, you can cancel it, but they'll reduce the refund based on how much time has passed.

hope everything works out. i would say be stern but nice, dont let the dealer push you around.

or you could tell them to give u an si and give them back the ex, cuz thats almost exactly what i paid for my si sedan

Always do your pricing reasearch and have your own financing set up before you ever contact a dealer. Contact the dealers via e-mail and go with whichever gives you the best bottom line price. Do not go to the dealership until the deal is set (keep all email correspondence).

No offense, but in these days with the internet as a resource, you really need to research before you buy. This shit used to be common, but now that you can check out a car's invoice and such whenever you feel like it, you gotta check this stuff before you buy. Realistically, your car shoulda been around 18k + taxes. 23k is ridiculous, that's more than I paid for my SI.

EDIT: When all was said and done I pretty much got an Si w/navi for not even 1K more than what you paid...

You got ripped off man hate to say. Hell even the SI isn't worth 23 thousand. You should of bought the EX for 18k,mine was and the SI is 19-21k which is worth it. I hate how some dealers mark the price up. I'd never buy a civic for 23k almost 24k thats just too much. Thats WRX territory right there. Hell the VW GTI is 23k too it isn't worth it.

It makes my blood boil to see dealers do this to people who have less than A+ credit. It's funny that they claim they're doing you a "favor" by financing you and then jacking up the total price of the loan. Which is one of the MAIN things a bank will look at before approving a loan. In other words they're raising the very thing that makes it harder to get approved. I'm only angry by this as a fellow co-worker with 625 credit score also got taken by the honda dealer and is stuck in a loan that came out to $35,000 post finance price on a 08 Odyssey LX!

God tell me about it! would calling the BBB do something? j/c and extended warranty's are another dealer scam. I had an extended warranty for my civic but i refunded it back, than the finance lady tried to pull some shady shit,so we told the manager and got her fired. I should of sued her ass, because she (Front Range Honda dealer in CO Springs) and the finance guy at Littleton tried to backstate the contracts. I was going to trade my 06 EX Coupe in for an 08 Rogue SUV and my car is in perfect shape and condition with only 13k miles, and they offered me only 13 thousand than came back at 14k on a trade for my car!! assholes than on top of that my credit is great, and they jacked the APR% up to 12 than decided to go down to 10% and offered 500$ a month payments on a 72 month loan thats such bullshit! they wasted my time and gas. I'm glad i left, then i saw the finance people in their little office making up numbers to see if some people are gullible and stupid,so the finance guys can rip them off. I wanted to ask them, how do they sleep at night knowing they got away with ripping someones hard earned money off from them. I was so pissed and so was my dad. I hate how some dealers claim they are doing favors for you too. I wanted to yell and make a scene in the dealer to prevent would be buyers from shopping at the dealer. This was Littleton Nissan in Littleton Colorado ill never go back to the dealer again. I already emailed Nissan about it and put my experiance on Edmunds. I am no longer interested in the Rogue anyways after the first dealer double talked and the second one which was Littleton tried to scam me what a bunch of frauds at the Littleton dealer. I want to get a Ralliart Lancer when it comes out!

Don't feel bad about your deal , everyone pays sticker once in their life, i know i did on the new bmw coupe when it came out in 2001. i made a car salesman day. People pay over sticker on certain cars and if you think about it only in the car business is when you haggle for a price. Do you go into best buy and try to haggle on the plasma or do you just pay the retail price they ask for. As long as you have a car you like thats all that matters and next time you will learn from your mistakes.

Warranty you can return but it does not change payment , they will probably just cut you a check and payment stays the same because then you would have to rewrite the contract. gap you can cancel too. but they would want to retain your business so say you will cancel gap but if they charged you 300 i would keep.

Grats on your new civic and welcome!
