Si Stolen

My friends 1999 red Si just got stolen...We live in the suburbs and it got stolen right outside of his house. I heard there is a guy in the philly/bucks county area looking for Si's so just keeping people on the look out. I hear he has some machine or something that disables all the locks? Does anyone know what this is?

For a second, I thought you were going to say that an 8th gen Si was stolen.

As far as I'm concerned, unless you have a tow truck or something, you really can't get the car to move.

Yea, Those Civic Are Easy To Steal. Btw, I Thought 1999 Si Only Comes In Blue. The 2000 Si Comes With Blue, Red, & Black.

Someone broke into my neighbors garage and stole her 2000 Si. My friends Integra GSR was stolen two weeks later about two miles away. Gangs from a local city have been scoping out local neighborhoods and have been hitting them hard. It's a sad world.

I live in Lancaster PA - they have been really jacking them around here lately! It's gangs from Reading PA that are doing it around here.

oh my uncle lives in lancaster...the tuner scene is kinda big down there...I see a lot of ricers too...I know the 1999-2000 si and integras are easy to strip and motor swap...but the FG/FA engines are the k20z3 and i haven't seen many ppl swapping those into older hondas yet so maybe they are just after the older ones...

Yeah well aparently all you need is a VIN number and you can get a key cut. I think this has changed recently at local dealerships. As for ricers - I don't even know where to begin; saw a 2008 Fiji Blue Si Sedan yesterday in Lancaster with 20" chrome rims on it.

I always use The Club if my car is parked outside at night

Clubs really don't do anything, they can use a hack saw right through your silly steering wheel.

I would guess just for a more exact fit into the key lock cylinder.

Yeah I have heard that they can also use nitrogen tanks to freeze the club and then shatter it. Oh well, I figure that it may serve as a deterint for most car theives. Also if you buy a club it comes with a 2500$ anti theft warranty.

Fair enough. I guess when they see it they decide not to bother because it'll take them more time to break into then to find another another car without a club.

Thats what I'm hoping! Haha. I'm not so worried about the new Si getting stolen, but I had a 94 Accord untill recently that I thought for sure was going to get stolen. The new Si's seem like they would be a formidable challenge.

i have had keys cut at the dealership . . . they require the VIN and proof of insurance + photo ID to get mine cut so i have a hard time believe that its that easy to just walk in with only a vin number and get a key to any car you want . . . im sure it has happened somewhere but i dont think its so easy that any and everyone could do it . . . i saw that thread on here about it a few weeks ago

Yeah I went to the local Honda dealership a couple of weeks ago and saw the amount of credentials you need to get keys cut. Could have been somewhere else locally. Maybe an inside job? Who knows.

inside job is about the only way i can think of getting it done . . . its unfortunate that dealerships dont do more extensive background checks . . . alot of my friends integras and si's have been stolen by taking their cars in to be serviced and the service people have access to full name, number, and address of the car when it comes in to be serviced. . . makes you a sitting duck for them to call their buddies and send them over and steal your shit
