I just got back from a 1000 mile road trip, and going an average of 90-95, I got a 28.2mpg. So, If you were to go the regular 65-75, you could easily get over 30mpg with the SI.

The only time my fuel gauge was accurate is when it said it was empty and the motor stopped.

Geez!...That's it out of an EX? I filled up today with 270 and still had 5 bars left. I think the best I've gotten is 330 on a tank so far..but that was during the first 500 miles.

I've gotten 32mpg before on a long road trip to Houston, all 99.9% highway, .1% merging to the highway from the gas station...

It's doable, but for practical reasons and everyday driving most people SHOULD be able to get around 25mpg.

I fill up my tank around 250-280 miles, with about 2 bars left usually. 11 gallons or so

I usually get about 340 miles out of my EX with 2 bars left. In the summer when i tend to go faster and accelerate harder i get about 300.

I got 389 miles on my last tank. I was scared, the light was on for a while and it didnt have any bars on the guage. I didnt have an option, both of the gas stations that i use during my comute were close due to some major inspection or something.

I am usually averaging 31.8 MPG

Shifting is a small factor. low rpm and high load (foot to the floor) is just as bad as higher rpm with low load. Gas pedal position will determine how good of gas mileage you get. If you're that worried about gas mileage, trade it in for a honda fit! lol j/k!

I've had my car for 2 months and I've filled up 2 times (not counting that it was full when I picked it up at dealer) and I'm averaging about 17 MPG on my 2008 si Sedan and I never hit vtec and shift at 3500 RPM every gear change. I do highway miles mostly too and when i drive in town it's maybe for 5 minutes.. nothing to kill the gas.. So far Im EXTREMELY dissapointed in the gas mileage but hell, it's better than my twin turbo stealth, it averages about 10mpg on a granny driving and WOT i can watch the gas gauge fall on the stealth, it's sad.

Overall i figure 17-20 MPG on an SI is average, I'm also in WV so alot of hills and crap.

You should be getting better MPG then that. I get 23-24 MPG with about 90% of that being city driving. And I just went on a road trip, and got a little over 28 MPG. I vtec all the time, and and shift at about 4500-5000 RPM when not hitting vtec. When driving around town, I try to always keep it above 2000RPM's but am usually cruising at around 3000RPM's.

Hmm. Do you have anything done to your car? Mine is currently stock. Also, did you use cruise control? I use chevron premium gas, but that shouldn't make too much of a difference.

I just filled up my tank, and with 100% city driving, I got just over 25 MPG. It's starting to warm up here though, when it was colder(10-20) I was getting about 20-21 MPG.

20 bars if im correct...it was a long drive from IL to NM

Something i did notice though is when i was filling up with 91 octane down in texas/new mexico, my fuel mileage was around 26 mpg. But, when i was getting closer here in Illinois, with 93 octane, i got 28 mpg....coincidence?
