My wife crashed(not badly) my civic again..

My poor car. She was backing out of a spot and someone pulled in next to her while she was looking the other way, she backed out and scraped the right fender along the guy's door.

It sounds like he was nice about. He had an old shitbox and didn't seem to upset about having his door all scratched up.

The damage to our car was largely cosmetic to the bumper, except for that pointy part of the fender right behind the headlight got bent in about 1/3 of an inch.

sucks.

Last time she nailed the other side. then we got it fixed and there were mysterious scratches that appeared on the bumper afterward. (not unlike the new set of scratches).

My car is only a year old and has been thumped 3 times now. man. I need to get her her own car before this drives me insane. but frankly, I don't think my wife can afford to drive. We don't have enough money to keep fixing these things. And eventually our insurance is going to be really expensive.

this sucks. Part of me wants to trick out the civic, but its not worth it if she's going to keep crashing it. I was going to buy some nice rims for it, but she's just going to curb the crap out of them.

Feel my pain.

Your nuts if you do anything to that car. It'll just make it worse the next time she hits something. I wouldnt even think about putting rims on a car that isnt being driven exclusively by me. Most people curb the crap out of their wheels. My ex girlfriend curbed her new car the 1st week she had it. It pissed me off and it wasnt even my car!

Sorry abt ur loss......

You only marry the 1st time once, enjoy your wife's mistakes. It is partly your fault, cause you did not fix her driving. Help her help you.

Ha! this is the best response. I think this smashup finally got her to realize that she's a shitty driver. I was like 'yeah, i've never crashed any of our cars. you're on accident number 5.'

but yeah, i'm going to buy crappy rims and put my shitty oem tires on them once winter is over. the only mod i've done cost me 20 bucks - blue LEDs in the interior (which looks awesome btw).

I'm finding myself elated that this one caused no damage that would affect the driving dynamics, just cosmetics.

Keep her out of SUVs the rest of your marriage and put her in a Volvo for peace of mind.

I wouldn't let her drive... I never let my girlfriend drive my car. It all goes back to the "Why is Helen Keller a bad driver?" joke. (If you haven't heard it, its because shes a woman) (sorry to the good women drivers on this forum) haha

Maybe you should consider a used Corolla or something similar for your wife. The insurance cost would be fairly low and you can finally mod your Civic without fear.

make sure you get curb feelers with the new wheels...

Been married for seven years now... I use to check both our cars habitually to make sure there are no scratches or dings... I dont even look at her car anymore... that way my blood pressure stays down... along with the Si I also own a G35 sedan lowered on 19's. When I got the SI to commute in.. she asked if she can drive the G around town.. posted the 19's for sale that very night... now she's running around town on stockies... I sleep better at night...

fortunately my wife is a decent driver in our 02 EX sedan.

The two accidents in my car fortunately were with only me in the car and involved either A) dumbass sequoia driver swerving into my lane, slicing off my right rear view mirror and scraping the door (happened to be a female driver) or B) metrosexual with fake tan who rear ended me with his H2, cuz he "reached for his cellphone".

Actually one correction, my wife has been rear ended as well by a camry but it was a 5-10mph tap which was easily fixed. I even had her drive back to my place back in college and i'll admit I was nervous at first but I actually fell asleep lol. If anything, i'm more worried that she will hit by one of the infinite number of boneheads in the capital area/montgomery county.

on the car for the wife topic..a corolla isn't a bad choice actually..especially the current gen, that plus they tend to ride softer then the civics of the same generation

DO NOT ALLOW WIFE TO DRIVE YOUR CAR!!!!!!

My wife never drove my Civic and she will never drive my Mazda3, future CR-Z. And will be lucky if she's allowed to set in my future BMW 1.

She has a 05 Accord that was a real nice car. She has now backed into a boulder the size of a house. Scraped up the right side of the front bumper cover. Curbed the passenger side wheels. And scraped up the doors with her keys and finger nails.

It is now a shit box. And Im sure it wont be long before she forces it into the guard poles at a ATM. Or takes out the side of the car at a drive thru.

Hope she is good as gold otherwise like my wife is. :)

Just don't let her drive your car!

yep, the wife is better than gold.. she's just a bad driver. has no fear of snow/ice even though she has no idea how to drive in it (which is why i got snow tires for the car).

But yeah her driving is the same. i find random dings in my car. my old VW used to have all kinds of scratches all over it. we're broke and in grad school, but as soon as she gets a job she gets her own car. I'll suggest a 3-4 year old corolla.

oh yeah and just for a LOL: here is what she did last time:
previous crash ... the parking lot.
