Just curious....

If I were to trade in my car in the future, but left my car the way it is now (lowered on springs, race header/catback/cai, aftermarket wheels), how negatively would it affect my trade in value? I don't have my stock parts anymore as I sold them, so I'm wondering if it'd be worth the cost to buy oem parts and install them if I were to trade in my car?

Do you guys have any experiences with this?

it would effect resale value greatly...most people dont want a modded car for they assume that it has been beaten/raced etc...if you mod keep the stock parts...then just part out what you dont want

i work for a dealership and generally when we see cars come through that have been modified the trade in value significantly drops my suggestion is check it out first cuz i don't know how honda does it then try tuning shops that will sell cars or privatly.

I would trade ppl for their stock parts and cash before you trade it or sell it. It will effect the value a lot like RBSJNH said.

I guess I'm the exception. I got 2-3k more than trade in value and my car had I/H/E and other mods. The used car guy had wood for the car tho..

what mods would hurt the most? I'm assuming the exhaust would be the main concern.

imo lowering springs...very few people do it right, and hacking it up can ruin all parts of suspension, ball joints, tie rods, struts...honestly mod your car all you want but save the parts...no one will ever know...

depends on the mood of the used car manager. i had my lx traded in w/ intake, exhaust and lowering spring for 11k on one dealership. i went to another and manager gave me 13.5k for it. he's actually giving me another 300 if i could bring the stock parts back, but i dont have it anymore.
shop around or better yet sell privately.

I'm not actually trading it in anytime soon I was just curious. I'm thinking once I'm done with college I'll probably think about trading it in.

it will cost you more time and effort..and money to get all oem parts back. i would just trade it in with the aftermarket parts.
