I test drove the new Smart Car (BTW not a good choice of cars) I saw the EPA MPG and laughed out loud for a good 5 mins. Its rated 30 city and 36 highway and cost between 13-17K sounds a lot like my Civic LX.

Salesman came out and we started talking. I asked what would be a good reason to trade in my Civic for one of these cars....his first response was the MPG, I said my 07 LX gets the same mileage, its larger and its quicker, so try again. His response was there is no way that is possible, we walked to the car and I showed him my gauge and mileage (4 bars left and I was at 330 miles), he then sat in the passenger seat and its really roomy and comfy, I took him out for a spin, left the dealer and squealed the tires then chirped the shift. He was impressed and said to me I don't know what to tell you or how to change your mind and get into a far inferior car.

I've driven the Smart Car. Rented them a few times. I love those friggin cars. You can park them anywhere. Ever pull into a spot and some reject is taking the whole thing up plus some of the empty one next to them with their X5? You live in Exton, I knowyou've experienced something similar.lol. ANyway, a Smart car is perfect for those spots.

If I lived in Philly (Dreaming), NYC, or Chicago I would buy one in a heartbeat. Totally not a highway car though! Get the Smart forTwo for that.

If I lived in a major city then I would own on but I would need to redo the interior so that I could sit inside and not touch the steering wheel or dash

Test drove a FBP FG2 and didn't shift into vtec in the beginning.
Dealer: You shift really well with a stick, I don't feel any backpressure.
Me: Huh??
Was he serious? Maybe.
Then
Dealer: Oh, nevermind.

when I went and bought my Si, I asked the guy, "what is this for?" (pointing to the VSA) and he said "it's a button for spinning tires"...

I think he was serious though.

I putt putt around town. Sometimes I push it to open it up.

I drive it fast when I have a good open road and it's safe. I have a perfect road that I do it on too. I love my Si!.

The only performance difference between the regular si and the mugen is an exhaust. The reason the mugen costs a lot more is because of its rarity. Personally, I think it is a complete waste of money.

exactly... and i believe someone (probably more than 1) has dyno'd the mugen and no difference was shown at all... any diff can just be explained by conditions/dyno, etc...

i'd rather save the money and do my own thing... if i got a mugen, i wouldn't want to touch it for fear of messing with the 'rarity' of having an original...

Well to be honest with the both of you there is a difference and it is worth wat the price is set to, i wouldnt pay it but the axel back exhaust is like $600 and the suspension is like another grand, the wheels and tires are over $2100 and the kit is probaly worth around like 4-5 grand and shipping from japan is probaly another 2k so all in all you get wat you pay for but for a civic i wouldnt pay it

Very true, I won't want those specific parts. Gimme 10 grand and I'd rather do a full N/A build, get some coilovers and chassis reinforcements and run circles around the Mugen all day, not to mention tires.

others that have 'copied' the mugens have not paid quite so much... a mugen can be faked for well under the 30k they charge for it...

Ya it very well could be but that would take away the whole purpose of rarity(sp) but like i said you get wat you pay for, its a bit pricy i would just rather buy the new ctr ftw lol but thats just me, they're sweet cars tho

The price range for the Mugen is the problem. To get the parts brand new and install to make like the mugen, would cost almost the same if not more. The wheels alone are over $2,000. Might as well get an STi for that price. The wheels are sick on the Mugen though. Work at a honda dealer and I have heard some of the dumbest crap out of some of these jokers. ie...."The spoiler on the back of the Mugen is for downforce for the rear wheel torque." You find a dumb salesperson (they are everywhere), you will hear dumb things.

when we were buying ours, the dealership had a mugen in the showroom...

a salesman saw us standing there (we were waiting for the finance guy to finish our papers) and asked us if we knew anything about the 'mootagi' civic they had...

even my wife laughed at him and said "don't you mean mugen?"

he said nothing and walked away...
