When I was looking for my 07 NHBP Si, I called several dealerships and they said they would call me back.

One finally called me back and said, we didnt find what you were looking for, but we found a 2002 Si with low miles.

I said NO, I want what I asked for, thanks anyway.

She said WAIT hold on, we also have a Red S2k. I hung up lol.

Si's are a limited produced Civic, ONLY 15,000 made a year out of the 300,000 that honda produces. Rare for a lot of dealers b/c of the volume they do. They may only get a few a year, so in essence he was not telling you a lign of BS. The fact that they had more then one on the lot doesn't say anything, seeing how Honda did not send them out all of the time, they came in as they were built some times we would get 1 in a month sometimes 3 and most of the time we would go a few months w/out getting any in and they are the #1 volume dealer in the state of La. God forbid if you wanted a Navi. We could not even order a Navi- anything in a Civic for like 3 mos. sometimes, They were even harder to get then the regular 2dr and 4dr Si's.....SO be happy if you were one of the few to walk on a lot and leave w/ an Si.... Most of the time they were pre sold b/4 they came in, atleast all through 06-07...

I have a similar story when I was looking at RSX's. I made an offer of 30G's for the demo 06 with ~2000km (mrsp was around 33k + destination charges in Canada for an 06 type-s). They didn't like my offer so I walked out. 5 minutes later the salesman calls back and told me he could sell me a TSX for 35G... wha?? I'm looking at sporty 2 door cars, what would make you think I was interested in a 4 door family sedan?? I never talked to that salesman again and went to the honda dealer across the street and ordered my si the next day.

yeah they are rare!. although the same day I walked into HONDA here in my town, I drove away with a NBP Si coupe with 6 miles. I couldn't have been more happy, nervous but happy. I musta bought my Si about 1 week after it came to honda off the truck. it says that on my service manual from the tech that did the PDI on my car.

I was looking at SI's from Bell Honda in Phoenix and the sales guy popped the hood to show me the 2.0 liter "TURBO CHARGED" engine. I was like "Turbo'd huh?" and he starting stammering saying shit like "Did I say turbo charged? I meant... blah blah." Then when I took it for a test drive he had me stop in the lot by this family of five (who were with another salesmen) saying that we'd be right back. He explained that they were in line to test drive it too cuz it was that "hot". Keep in mind I was driving the SI coupe and the family (with three kids no older than 10) was then looking at Pilots...

Basically the dude was so full of shit I was actually embarrassed for him. I almost wanted to buy it out of pity... But I ended up going elsewhere.

To my knowlege (correct me if iam wrong), and personall experience out of the dealers i went to they all told me that they only get about 2 Si' civics per month and it takes them a while to sell those 2, out of probbely 30 civics they sell a month only 2 are si, iam just making up the 30, it could be wayy more.

Again, supply and demand sets the pace for what cars "Si's" sell for, depending on what area you are in. At that dealership, they may not have as much traffic as other dealers, so they may sit for a few months until they sell. It is not uncommen for some cars to sit on the lot for over 200 days, @Team, we got bonus money for selling old age units.I'm getting off topic, sorry. The Si is still a rare car, it may be a popular rare car b/c of the value of it and people with other Si's notice more on the road b/c they are always looking for them( i am guilty of the same) so you may go a day and see 2or 3 in an afternoon, other times you may go weeks w/o seeing other Si's. The size of your town or city reflects that as well.I will say that the older Hatch 02-05 Si's, we could not give them away and they were not mass produced (for a good reason- UGLY) but Honda did a great job we will all agree on the
8th civic.

3% of all civics sold in the usa are si's.. anyways, i dont get the "rare" thing, because doesnt rare mean they are hard to get? there is a huge difference between "hard to get" and "wait to get".. has anybody here been told by a dealer that it will be 6+ months or more for an si (aka you cant get one)? i doubt it, so how is that rare? i would call this car high demand but not rare.. if it was rare, then 90% of people would have to order them like 6 months in advance and may actually be turned down i would think

When I went back to get my license plates on of the Sales Douches asked if I had ever got my Si "sideways." As in "have I ever drifted in this FWD car?"

my aunt is a doctor in modesto, ca, but when she buys cars, she never tells the sales rep that she's a doctor, and even goes to the dealer wearing a simple shirt, jeans, and slippers.

She went to a Lexus dealer doing just that, and no one even approached her. She then went to point to a Lexus ES...

Aunt: How much is this? (pointing to the ES350)
a sales rep approaches
Rep: $40,xxx with the options included.
Aunt: (takes out 40k cold cash) drop it to 40k and we have a deal
Rep: ....

Those stupid dealers really do judge you by your appearance, and wont give notice to you unless you look the part
