Im sorry!
but it is up to the buyer to learn their shit....instead of being convinced by some person who doesnt know.
you say it in the nicest way possible, like constructive criticism.. you mainly let them know that you would like to have a knowledgeable salesman and that you are going to catch them on their bullshit..

You have to think of this way, a dealership that is selling a respected product isn't going to hire a salesmen that can't sell cars. After all, the dealer needs to sell cars. When a young guy like me, possibly you walks into a dealership, the salesman either assume he knows what is talking about or he doesn't. They have seen a lot of customers and whatever traits they see the most, they base there techniques of off. If they see a lot of asshole teenagers coming in that don't know squat, they make shit up just so kids can go home and tell their parents, the Si is a great car on insurance, and dad it has a V6 for fuel economy! Where as if a educated customer walks in, pulls up in a sports sedan, the salesmen will adjust his techniques to sell him/her a car. If the customer knows a lot, a salesmen will start throwing technical details at the customer and what not. If all of the teenagers/young adults that a salesmen has dealt with have generally not been knowledgeable, how will he/she know that one young adult/teen is going to be smart? Where I got my Si from, the salesmen that sold it to me sells an average of 7-10 cars a week. He is simply amazing, his techniques are great and he is extremely polite and never pushy. He knows when a deal will be made, and when to push and when not to push. For example, I had to make calls to my dad for advice, he would step out while I made the call, and then come back in when I was done talking just to respect my privacy. He didn't say anything about the Si that wasn't true, nor was he bragging about it all the time. He wasn't pushy and let me do my own thing, thats what made the sale. Generally, you get to have an experience with an asshole salesmen at either used car dealership, or a dealership where he/she thinks your not there to buy the car. This is my general consensus on salesmen. If you go to high end dealerships, Audi being my favorite ( they have beautiful woman as salesman, you care more about them and their body then the car your interested in, and yes they make ALOT of sales), salesmen are older more well off and generally more enthusiastic about the cars they are selling. They provide information if you really want it, and are never pushy.

^thats yes and no, the first dealership i went to the guy was very nice, told me all the details on the car, motor wise, basicaly everything about a car, i guss its because i look like i know wat im talking bout, i dont know i think it has something 2 do with the salesman tho, i probaly would have bought the car from the but they wanted way 2 much for the car, plus it wasnt the color i wanted, i found wat i wanted brand new for more than 1k less than the used si i looked at first, the second salesman was a cool dude tho, i guess if its a salesman that just wants 2 sell cars he will pull somebull shit out, but if its a salesman that wants 2 sell a car and take care of the customer i think he will give all the right details, after all the salesman that knows what their talking about and want 2 take care of the customer sells more cars

When I was buying my WRX the dealer was talking about their service department (by the way, my WRX was my present to myself for graduating college: Automotive Technology). I said I would be doing my own maintenance. He said to just make sure I use Subaru brand filters so that if I ever need warrany work I could say I had all my oil changes there, otherwise they could void my warranty.

The same dealer also claimed he wasn't making any money on the car (said he was selling it to me for what he paid for it).

The only reason I didn't walk out after those comments was that they were the only dealer around with the color/options I wanted. Also, for some reason most places I called that had cars with similar options (though different colors) the cars had 100-200 miles on them.

the more i read the thread the more i thank the car gods that my sales guy is cool.

He didnt have to tell me a thing. i just came in and said i want a silver SI. he sais ok that will be a $1000 deposit and a few months waiting. I came back the next day and gave it to him... i asked to test drive one oitherwise i might not want it. so he put it in the contract that sale is pending test drive...

now i dont remember if i had told this story here or not but i def. did when i first came to the site and got flamed(called a liar)...

about a month later he said that they got in a black Si and if i get there before 3pm i can test drive it.(but i ordered a silver one) so i rushed down as they got it off of the truck.

it still had the steering wheel cover hood cover and all the other plastics on the dash floor and seats. we just took it out like that...

It was running and he was putting fuel in it when i drove up.

he tells me that he just wants to take it around the block to warm it up since it hadnt been driven yet and it was the second or third one they had gotten(OCT 05) well he ripps out of the parking lot, pops through all gears and redlines every shift with the windows down(it was like 10 degrees out)... screeming WOOO HOOO as it engaged Vtec. i was a bit stonned. he then slams on the breaks and rips around a corner and accelerates through it. comes up to a truck and whips around it in 2nd shits to 3rd then 4th, wips around another corner takes it to like 170-180 and pulls over...

then gets out and says YOUR TURN!...

at that point i didnt want to be outdone by him so i basicle did the same thing, had a lot of fun... best dealer-in-car test drive ever...

We got back and you could smell the tires and exhaust crap burning off....

we got back in the building and he said "So should i rip up the contract?"

to which i said "AH NO!" he then told me that i should come buy in two weeks. i didn and he showed me a habbi that thair detailing shop was polishing... well it looked like nothing in the book and i immidatly changed my order to a habbi. he arranged a dealer trade and i got it on my birthdat Feb 27th...

But i think that they held it for about a week and didnt tell me it was in, just so it would be more of a birthday surprise

only thing he said before i took it out was DONT MISS SHIFT and end up like RSX owners, these engines cant take being dropped into a lower gear at speed, and if you do that wont be good but other then that let-er-rip

the same thing you use to control when vtec kicks is the same thing you use to control how fast the car goes! that gas pedal, what a crazy feature
