Wow...credit report error was removed. Score went way up!! Better financing rates?

I found that one of my fathers credit problems showed up on my credit report which was hurting my score pretty badly. Considering i have the same name as him i knew this was gonna happen sooner or a later...but it should not happen cuz they are supposed to use SSN when doing this crap. Anyways, I wrote Equifax and sent them all the proof and all and finally 3 months later the error dropped off. I have a online credit monitoring service with MBNA...WOW was i impressed when i saw that my score went from a 687 to a 761
The only reason this gets me so pumped is my SI will be here in July and i was really hoping this would drop off by then so i could get a much better financing rate. I know there have been many of threads on here discussing finance rates so im not gonna ask what everyone else got. im just pumped so i had to vent a lil bit of the joy. cant wait to join the ranks and start rockin the SI instead of getting on here and reading about others with their SI's. peace

Yep, it should definitely help. It will also make you more likely to qualify for any deals the dealership might happen to be offering. Although with the Si, of course, any kind of deal is highly unlikely.

LOL yeah i dont thin kany deals will happen. Well im definitely NOT financing through Honda...not after hearing about so many people that get screwed by the dealership upping their finance rate when they actually qualify for better rate. Ill be going through my bank BBandT...but im gonna check one other bank first to see what kind of rate they offer.

With a 761, and a high enough limit you should qualify for Honda's super preferred rate. I believe it is 5.9 right now for 60 months. The busness manager could try to raise you, so be careful.

thats exactly what im afraid of...im not gonna have some arrogant business guy simply tweak the numbers a bit to put more of my money in his pocket.

You dont have to let him. If you have a high enough credit limit, you can tell him you will not buy the car for less than 5.9%. That is the super preferred rate for American Honda. The F&I manager makes money for each point he bumps you from that rate. The maximum amount he can bump you is 2%, so if you qualify for 5.9% He will try to hit yofor 7.9% I work at a honda dealership and have no vested interest in your deal, so if you have any questions feel free to ask.

with a 761 you should get bank financing before you go to the dealer. Then you have them by the balls on an OTD price. 761 is a exceptional score and you should get a good rate.

Don't know my score is, but I got 1.9% (non SI / 48 month) and i was approved without a cosigner. ...Not bad for a university student!
