Yeah, I love to drive around a bit, get lost somewhere. However, my commute's on and offramp get rid of daily stresses decently well, when taken at 3rd gear.

The Blue Ridge Parkway is the ultimate stress relief for me. I couldn't wait to get back there after I bought her.

But yeah, I could really love a cross country road trip through the desert. That would be amazing. Someday...

It's funny you mention trucks, though. I work for a trucking company, and I can honestly say the drivers pretty much go until they are completely unable to drive anymore. They love the road so much, they never retire. I've been there four years now and in that time three of our drivers died doing the work they love.

Well I really need a car with a warranty and something a I don't have to worry about when I start graduate school, so I got the Si sedan. It will be very pleasing to drive it when all I do is have classes, labs and study all the time!

I hated driving as well. I used to have a 2001 Diamante LS and it was just boring.

Ever since I got my Si, I look forward to driving it every morning to work. I also started taking streets more often while coming from work instead of I-75. It's more fun. :)

I now like driving. Alot!

Every time I get into my Si, I have a smile on my face. It is the kind of car that can turn a bad day into a good one. While I hate getting stuck in traffic, having to crawl along is not so bad in my Si. Yes, the Si is indeed a stress reliever. Good thread!

When I'm in my car it lets me get away from being depressed and pissed off so I agree with you.

Even though it's a simple 4cylinder engine, does anybody like slipping in the key, rolling down the window, and then starting her up? Like NitrousG35 said, I just have to get into the car to start smiling.

Yeah! I mean, we're talking about an economy car, here!

I think this is one thing that has set the Civic apart from other cars. It's cheap (relatively), it's fun, it's comfortable, and there is a lot of pride in ownership.

On the flip side, my heart has been pounding in it before. But it was like controlled exhilaration.

No.
Cause when I'm relaxed, shit happens..
You can't relax if you're driving.. pay attention to the road.. Avoid accidents.

I used to hate driving. Sure, I enjoyed scenic routes and getting "lost" on back roads. But day to day driving used to kill me. Since I bought my Si, I've been racking up miles just loving every situation.

Even in the worst traffic, with a-holes on all four sides, I'm grinning ear to ear just thinking about tapping it up to 5k and screaming away in second gear--even if I don't!

So, tell me. Am I crazy? Should I check myself in? Should my tailor begin working on the straightjacket?

YES!!!!! ive had my Si for 3 months now and im approaching 8k miles already lol. for me, i just have soo much fun driving my car and it actually does relieve alotta stress.

James, your Si is more than a stress reliever. It is a way to get high! What a rush your car is. It is an inspiration to me that is for sure. If I had your car, I would be laughing hysterically all the time and would probably have a million tickets.

Tomorrow will be 3 months owning my Si with 7900 miles. I spend a lot of time in it so I guess I'm enjoying it.

Well you bought an SI cause you're an enthusiast. If you were looking for a point A to B car... a base civic would've worked... but since we all love cars here... driving an automatic base civic in traffic is nothing special... the fact that you look around in traffic and know that your "commuter" is special causes the reduce in stress

^^ The Si either turned me into an enthusiast or brought it out in me. I've never been a gear head. I've known a little about cars in the past, but not the imports and nothing about all the mods.

One thing I noticed after I started this thread is how the engine vibration comes through the seats on accelleration and while cruising. It's a feel good thing...
