Test drive/performance driving experience

I missed out on a few driving events last year sponsored by the auto manufacturers just because I didn't realize they were happening. I don't want to miss out on them again, particularly the Mazda ones (MazdaRevItUp, ZoomZoomLive).

I know these manufacturers had some test drive/performance driving events in the past:

Lexus: Taste of Lexus (IS250, IS350, hybrids)
Toyota: Put It In Play
Volvo: (S40)
Honda: Civic LIVE! (Civic)
GM Autoshow in Motion (test drive nearly every GM vehicle and competitor vehicles)
Jeep (for Jeep owners only)
Mazda RevItUp (Mazda6, Mazda3), ZoomZoomLive (MX-5 Miata)
Mercedes C-Spot (C series), M-Class Road Rally (M series)
Maybach
Cadillac (owners only)
I'm sure there were others.

If anyone has information regarding registration for any of these types of events this year, please post them up! Please note that I am not talking about auto races (autocross, drag races, road rally, etc.). I am referring to non-sales marketing events that are held by auto manufacturers.

Thanks in advance.

RevItUp Racing

Found this in my e-mail today:

Promo Link:
http://www.ifanz.com/revitup/netspot.html

Main Link:
http://www.revitupracing.com/

Quote:
Feed Your Need for Speed

Think you're the next Michael Schumacher? Ready to win Indy if Bobby Rahal gives you a call? Maybe it's time to find out how fast you really are.

Rev It Up®, presented by Chevy, has created a kick-ass weekend racing event. Professional instruction, plenty of seat time, plus some very hot cars to drive for fun - or for times and prizes. How hot? How about the new Corvette? The Impala SS? The Cobalt SS Supercharged Coupe? How about all three?

If you want to take classes and race for prizes, the driver's fee is the deal of the century. All you have to do is sign up, show up and bring your best game. Don't miss out! Registration will open for biz soon and the skill schools and competition slots will fill up fast.

Not ready to compete? No problem. There's plenty to do and see at Rev It Up. But be sure to bring a day's supply of adrenaline. You're going to need it when you take a few hot laps with a professional driver in a new Corvette Z06. Or when you grab your buddies and race side-by-side on the kart track. Still going strong? Demo the new SS cars solo.

So mark your calendar. Now! The 2006 Rev It Up schedule is:

July 22-23: Orange County
July 29-30: Dallas
August 5-6: Miami
August 12-13: Chicago
August 19-20: New York
August 26-27: Washington DC

Don't spend all your cash on one of those fancy race-track / Driver's Ed programs. Save mega-bucks and sign up for Rev It Up - the world's largest performance driving school and national racing competition.

Who says good guys don't finish first?
I think these are the same guys that did the Mazda RevItUp series.

Northern California Rally School

Here's one for you folks in Northern California. Learn how to rally in your own car! Or learn how to be a rally co-driver!

http://www.sfrscca.org/RallyX/?rallyschool2006

I know it's a bit late, but maybe you can still register for the class.

Does anyone else have information on no-cost or low-cost driving schools they'd like to share? Thanks a bunch.

RevItUp now open for registration!

RevItUp is now open for registration! Be one of the first 100 to sign up in your city and receive $10 off. Regular registration fee is $50. It went up $10 from previous years. *sigh*

You might be lucky enough to win a free car. This is a driving school AND competition! You can also just go to check out the other things going on for free. You'll need to pay in advance to participate in the school and competition.

For more information, see the post above or visit:

Yikes! The admission price is $1,195! A little pricey for my taste, but someone else might be interested.

From the site:
Quote:
Your day at the AMG Challenge will give you an adrenaline rush...unlike any other. You'll learn high-performance driving skills from racing greats including Le Mans and World Challenge champions. You'll experience the twists and turns of a first-class race track driving a range of Mercedes-Benz AMG vehicles including the E55, C55, CLK55, CL55, SLK55 and the S55*. And you'll power through esses with the SL55 AMG and thunder down the high-speed stretches with the all new CLS55 AMG.

It will be a full day packed with excitement including:

* On-track driving clinics
* Timed competition on an autocross track
* Performance driving exercises highlighting car positioning, steering method, throttle control, racing line theory and much more
* Open lapping on the main track
* Hot laps with top-name professional drivers
* At the conclusion of the event, there will be a celebratory champagne toast including a certificate, trophy and awards presentation

It all adds up to an unforgettable experience that you won’t want to miss. The event admission fee is $1,195. If you haven’t registered yet, sign up now. These limited spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis only.

To register, simply select a location from the list below. Then fill in your name, address, and payment information. You’ll receive your confirmation shortly. The only thing faster than registration is the AMG models you’ll be driving.

In Vegas you can go the "GM Experience" and driver a whole load of their cars/trucks, etc. on both on-road and speciality off-road driving courses. Admission is (or at least was) $9.99 for a spin.

I have driven the Z06 on the on-road course, the Cobalt SS Super Charged, the Solstice (non-turbo...going back to do the GXP turbo when it is available), as well as the H2 off-road.

You get 3 laps on the on-road and two laps off-road. Lots for fun and handy since I am local.

They had that by me and called it the Auto Show In Motion. I got to drive the Z06, CTS V-series and Cobalt SS as well. Also the H2 offroad but for me it was free. I didn't know they charged for it. I went the last two years and it was free.

The GM Experience (aka "The Drive") in Vegas is modelled after the Auto Show in Motion. It's a semi-permanent installation at the Sahara Hotel & Casino in Vegas. "The Drive" is a bit more involved than what you get at the Auto Show in Motion events. You'll need to pass a mandatory breathilizer test in order to play, though. Damn.

I didn't find an official website, but I did find this video review:
