doesn't really matter...it's a ploy that's been used for years..the best time to buy is the last week or day of any month because the dealership have to close out the month and get as many units as they can. I say this cause I sell cars at one and the thing like there trying to get rid of X year to get more of Y year is bullshit there gonna get the new models anyways and some manufacturer may not even offer a huge rebate for the older models. end of the month and find out which is the oldest one of the one you want to buy too

Right now and untill the 2007 are gone is when you can get the better price on the 2007 models. If you try and buy a 2008 model now expect to pay top price and way over the 2007 models.
But if the dealership knows the car is a hot seller then it comes down to supply and demand. or a hot color or a hot option package. The first year of any new model typicall demands full price. |

The best 'season' to buy a car in, is obviously, winter. Go during a bitterly cold part of the year. The reason I say this is because when I was looking at cars before my SI, I was looking during the Nov/Dec/Jan months, and it's freeezing in MN at that time. There were practically NO people out and about, walking through the car lots. I even had a good talk with a salesman who had just lost his job (worked at an electronics place, but best buy closed em down) and had just started this, and was telling me how tough it is during the winter because no one is car shopping. Desperation = desperate negotiating

I just bought my 08 civic EX sedan two weeks ago and I got it for less than what the prior dealer I went to wanted for an 07 LX sedan. I think it all depends on each individual dealers current situation, which is hard to predict, so my advice would just be to shop around.

I bought mine 07 lx coupe about 4 weeks ago. My dealership was trying to sell all the 07 model before they receive a new inventory. They even put the msrp price as the sticker price... I got mine about $1500 below msrp (plus tax, registration, etc..) |

Give yourself plenty of time. If you have enough time, you can continue negotiations; You can do it online too; Lots of sites allow you to get multiple quotes from multiple dealers, who like to make the sale to you and beat each other prices. I managed to bring down the price on a MazdaSpeed3 (nice car, BTW) from 30k (above the MSRP) to 21.7k; The exhaust was a bit too loud for people sitting in the rear seat, ended up with Si and love the styling and subtleness :-)

The perfect scenario would be....
The last day of the month, on a Monday, and it happens to be raining/snowing... Worst scenario.... The first day of the month, on Friday/Sat/Sun, and it is sunny I took my Mom to buy a Porsche last week - although it was a Sat. it was end of the month, and it happened to rain (weird because we live in So. Cal??) I was able to get the Navi installed free of charge. Last edited by nastynogales; 11-02-2007 at 02:41 PM. |

The dealerships I've gone to (haven't purchased an Si yet) know that the only thing added for 08 is the tpms and haven't quoted me any huge price difference between the 07's and 08's... I personally want to order an 08 so it doesn't really matter but I've told them I'd take an 07 off the lot for cheaper and they said it really wouldnt matter, it'd be about the same anyway.... |

It used to be that the end of the model year was the best time to buy. You could cut a great deal on the outgoing model while the new models were arriving on the lots.
Nowadays, I am not so sure. I made a heck of a deal on Memorial Day. I would think that as has been said here, that the winter might be the best time because sales can be slow and dealers want to move inventory. |

My aunt had worked at Larry Miller Toyota located in Peoria AZ for over 20 years . She told me usually the last day of each month, and the really good deal is the last business day of the year (in case they are closed on new year/ new year eve)
Just like it was posted above it's because the dealership is trying to get whatever numbers it projected. |
