I got it too. 5 years bumper to bumper.

I guess I should have asked what exactly it covers, but I was more thinking of resale value of the car (since I know I won't keep it long enough to have to use the extended warranty).

i'v owned several honda and never had a major problem that 200 bucks couldn't fix (cvjoints), i think its a waste of $$$...if something is going to go wrong then it would prob happen in the first 5 to 10 thou miles.

Due to paranoia and bad car luck, I got the 7 year 80k extended warranty. At the dealer, I sarcastically asked if my Nav broke, would it be covered, and the answer was yes. I should have asked questions like clutch and brakes.

I live in an area where there is salt water fog and the paint on cars oxidize real fast. My sister had a Ford Mustang with extended warranty and Ford repainted her car when the paint became flat and dull.

I bought it, looked it over at home when I got the packet in the mail and returned it (minus some money because they prorated it) When I compared it to the regular warrantee it looked almost identical. The only other feature of it was roadside assistance with tire change and fuel if you run out of gas, ect. I have AAA for breakdowns and towing, can change my own tire, and have working eyes and an IQ over 100, so I will NEVER run out of gas. Complete waste of money, just like consumer reports says.

Only a complete waste of money if you plan to keep your car. Very good investment if you plan to sell it (extended warranty will set you apart from the crowd...a very big crowd when it comes to Civics).

Those extended warranties are junk. They usually only cover what's on that parts sheet and the warranty companies themselves are cheap as F*CK. So take for instance the sheet says sunroof motor, well that means the motor is covered, not the cables and gears.

I deal with these "shitty" extended warranties all day long as a service advisor and I believe they are worth the money. In certain situations they are worth more to some people. Now im not giving praise to them cause I work there....I could care less, Im not on commision so if the work in the shop is customer pay or warranty its the same to me. Looking at it from a comsumer side though, I can't tell you how many times I've seen people with say 132k on their car and then bam their A/C compressor and clutch go at once...on a very hot day. Almost $1500 for the customer or $25 with the warranty....the extended warranty is hit and miss that is why Honda will return your full value of the extended warranty if you never used it. But if you have a major component go on you, there is nothing like breathing easy knowing you dont have to dish out big bucks for things like A/C components which are always pricey. On a further note the Honda Plus Comprehensive covers all the portions of the repair in that deductible, so if you need a compressor it also pays all the labour for diagnosing it as well as replacing it as well as all the PAG oil and freeon needed to recharge your system afterwords.

Long and short of it is.....i've seen these warranties save huge headaches for people. I personally roll the price into my monthly payments and you know what its not that bad....if I dont use it, get a cheque back from Honda after the warranty period is up. You can laugh leaving the dealership saying "Those idiots, I saved all that money" but when you get into your 5th year and something goes like a compressor, or a rear main seal....you will enjoy it for the convenience even if that one repair dindt total equal up to it.

Once again, always just my 0.02, im sure i'll get plenty of people disagreeing.

Wait, they refund they entire purchase price of the warranty to you if you don't use it? What about the finance charges? This is all news to me. My dealer said I had 30 days or something to return it.

It's a little known secret about their warranty, obviously if they can get away with no refunding your money they will.....but if you never put in an extended warranty claim then you are entitled to get your money back.....I have already had a couple of customers come over to service and tell me they just got their money back. So it a nice way to breath easy about the bigger price. Atleast that is how its done in Canada.

Furthermore, if you are getting to the end of your extended warranty and something like stabilizer bushings go....which is an extended warranty part...well don't get them to do it under warranty if its about to be your first claim...pay the $50 or $11 if you do it yourself and then get your entire warranty money back. Don't let a $50 job make you lose the $800-$1200 you spent. Like I said it's only if you never use it. One claim put in and it voids your right to get the money back because you used it. So be weary of the small warranty repairs, cause you are gonna pay $25 either way, so if its only $20 more to do it yourself, you might get your entire money back after....just some food for thought people.

Financing charges are non-refundable as far as I know, one time fee.

I just had a look over the Comprehensive warranty from Honda and just so you know, that Navi system is only warranted for the regular 3 year or 60k whichever comes first, the extended warranty does not extend that unit....might want to talk to them about their answer again, because it should have been "No"

Brakes and Clutch are usually never covered even under your regular bumber to bumber 3yr/60k warranty.

Yes it clearly states in page 5(section IV part A) of the vehicle service contract that the navigation system IS COVERED "American Honda authorized electronic/audio/NAVIGATIONAL, DVD entertainment and security systems" that was one of there selling points of the extended Honda Care bumper to bumper warranty.

Once again, a reason to check from Canadian vs. American warranties. Because in Ontario, Navi systems are not covered under Comprehensive warranty.

Cheers.

The person who asked about Nav was from California...hence it is covered.

Honda Care is great. It is nothing like the horrible aftermarket scams... I got the 7year 120k miles coverage. Just one transmission problem and it will have paid for itself. It is peace of mind. Plus I never trade my cars in so being able to sell the car in 4 years with a factory bumper to bumper warrenty keeps the value of my car at the top. When I sold my Insight it was a huge help.

I didn't get it. Even though the finance guy offered to go on down the interest rate even more. Also, he was misleading. He tried to make it sound like it covered all sort of stuff that I know it wouldn't. They must make a good chunk of change for it since they were pushing it so hard.
