Aww man you are in for a great time. I wish I could go back to the first day with my Si....Cloud 9 was about 5 clouds down from where I was that day. Still lovin the feeling behind the wheel though. The sounds and handling of the Si are very addictive.

Hi, my name is Damian and I have an i-VTEC problem. I just can't stay under 6k RPM when there's room. Who cares if I get under 20 mpg, I'll wait until gas goes up to $3.75 again to care that much. Until then, I'll just stick with my support groups.

Mmmm, yeah.... But it feels

like the perfect fitting glove
like an old pair of Levi's
relaxing like a massage
adrenaline pumping like a base jump
like all that vtec is locked up by your cool confidence
until you choose to downshift, rev match, and let the RPMs scream at WOT

And the first time you feel that cam profile switch it is definitely an OMG moment.

It's not really all that bad-ass of a car. It's not all that fast, but it's quite fun to drive. It's simple, driver-oriented, and adequately powered without being overly so.

That said, every time I get into the car, I just have to smile, and "brace" for the drive ahead. After I back out of the garage (with just a bit of gas with the window rolled down to get the engine's throaty note in my ear...), I look forward to snicking it into first. Then as I get out of my neighborhood, there are three bars on the temp guage, so I gun it, flick the wheel right, tap 5k, 2nd, tap 6k, 3d, tap 6k, 4th -- and I'm all smiles.

...then there's the days I go ALL the way up the rev range....

WHen I first drove my Si is was as if a chill
seemed to come off my soul like a vapor of loneliness freezing us both.
It was like a mysterious planet that one cannot ever reach or even look at
through the largest telescope man could ever build.

I have a vtec problem. I always promised myself not to hit vtec for a gas tank to see what's the best MPG I can have. And you know what, 8 months later it didn't happen yet.

I agree with Izzy. The Si is no Evo killer, but it's a driver-oriented car. Everything is there to whip around the corners, and if you're just sitting at the top of the rev range, you'll find few 200hp compacts that will keep up. And to anyone who approaches me with a V8 'Stang or something and rags on the little civic, I ask him if he get's 32+ highway miles, and the smirk usually wipes right off. I find the Si to be the perfect balance of sport, daily driver, and highway cruriser (thanks to the huge OD 6th gear). Yeah, an Evo X would be sweet with 330+ whp, but realistically, I'd rather take the Evo for the weekends. What do I need 330 whp for if I'm going to get groceries or visiting nana?

The saying goes: you can't be all things to all people. The Si comes pretty close.

Give up a little handling, a little torque (well maybe more than a little), a little economy, but have just enough of all to make it well-rounded. The Si is built for weekend fun and weekday practicality.

It feels smooth as butter shifting at 2500 rpm and like a wild animal on a hand leash over 6500 rpm. It's the best of both worlds!

I feel as if it's a good value for the performance it offers. I feel as if it could rattle less, and offer more torque, but overall it's great. I feel as if the cabin layout is very well done and puts other cars to shame..

As mentioned, it isn't fast. It's a quick car that's really fun to drive. The car is wrapped in a really sleek and eye-catching shell as well. I love this car! If only this car was 200/200. Yeah, I know that will ultimately never happen with a Honda car. It's a fun trade off to bring the car to really high revs, but it really sucks when you're not any faster than an Echo off the line.
