break in the engine

So i got my si on monday with only 130 miles on it!
So I'm at almost 400...And I know you should break the engine in...so I been driving it to 3k rpms and very careful, I hit it to 8k a couple times but thats it...So do I have to wait till 500-600 miles to be able to drive it hard??
My dealer was like..This car was made to red line, you can do it all the time, it was built for it...

Your dealer was right, I did it off the lot and people who test drove your car did it too. Just don't VTEC it too much.

Too late now. The most important mileage of the breakin is from 0-500 miles.
Changing the oil at 50 miles then 250 then 500 then 1000 then 2000.

You can redline all you want. It's already been driven to hell and dyno'd since you bought it at 130 miles. Under 3000 rpms for the Si is torture. Si needs to live in the 3500-4500 range.

breaking in the engine can be very tough! taking it apart is one thing, but breaking in the engine is another. Have a jackhammer, it will help! and a blow torch also! Good luck....

taking it apart is easy, just get a air tool, and take out all the bolts.

Break in is way past gone. 80% of the motor break-in happens in the 1st 20 miles. That is when the piston rings seat. The oil should always be changed at 20 miles.

The main thing is make sure the engine is completely warmed up before you drive it. You want to vary the RPM's, meaning hard accel accompanied by hard decel (engine braking, not the brakes.)

If it were me, I would change the oil now to some dino oil, change the filter too. Then just vary the rpms like I said above until 1500. Then change the oil again and go full synthetic, whichever brand you choose. I prefer amsoil.
