Base RSX for Civic Si?

Hello,

I currently have a 2006 RSX Base 5spd. I've done a few tasteful mods and I love the looks of it, but it's still so slow. To really make a k20a3 have potential would be to either engine swap it, or turbo it. I've done my research and don't really want to do either, and I realized, for the same price as an engine swap I can basically buy a brand new 07 Civic Si. Do you think I should part out my Rsx before I sell it? Or just leave it? I was thinking of putting my Enkei rims on the Civic Si. I would probably go with Figi Blue on the Si coupe. Any reasons not to go for the Si?

Thanks for reading, here's some photos I have taken of my RSX.

Thank you, I've been reading a ton on this site, there's great information.

Thanks for the quick replies guys! I'm going to test drive one in the next few days, even though I won't be able to hit vtec, it should still be a good experience. I also love the look of the black Si, I'll have to see what I like in person up close when I go to test drive.

I have an Injen SRI on my rsx, I know that won't fit. Greddy sp2, that probably won't fit. Type R 22mm rear sway bar - prob. won't fit. Sportline springs - I don't think would fit. So I think I'm pretty much left with the wheels, which should hopefully look good on a Si.

You've just got to weigh your options and pick what's best for you. Keep in mind, the Si is by no means "fast." It is quick, nimble and overall a great car to drive, but it is not fast when you are comparing it to cars like an EVO, STI, S2K, G35C, 350Z, 335i, etc. It will definitely be a step up from your base RSX, but I just wanted to give you my perspective after I traded in my 2006 LX sedan for a 2007 Si Coupe. My main intentions were that I developed a soft spot for these cars. I love the community, the car, but by no means do I consider it fast. I'm not trying to sway you away from the Si, but have you also considered the RSX Type-S? You can minimize your losses there.

You'll always want to part out your aftermarket parts from your current car. You'll never get what they're worth by selling them with the car.

By the way, I'm sorry if I beat the dead horse with the whole "fast" thing, but I assumed your intentions of getting an Si was solely related to being fast.

Edit: I think a Type-S would be the best choice for you, both financially and performance wise. The Type-S has a counter Japanese part and there are so many parts readily available. You guys have a fully tunable I/H/E + x setup and more.

I had a base RSX and could not get over the fact that I didn't just buy the Type S to begin with. So instead of getting a Type S I went for the Si and I'm glad I did. +40 hp makes one hell of a difference, plus you get

Thanks for the reply. They were not really for the intentions of being "fast". I just know that the engine in the Si has a lot more potential than a k20a3 in the base RSX. A Type-S is another good option, but most used 2006 Type S, are about 20-21k+ with more miles than I have on my car. I can't see justifying buying a used type s, with more miles than on my car (13k) when I can buy a brand new Si for 1k more than a used Type S. I guess I'll see what happens after I test drive the Si. Hopefully that makes sense.

Thanks for the replies everyone

why not? I redlined an acura RL when i visited the states and test drove it
here in our country, they (the sales reps) encourage you to rev it, redline it, floor it, and run it over potholes so since they're really confident on the civic
