What price to expect for an SI sedan @ 3100 miles?
What do you think the asking price for my car should be?
Tafette white SI sedan, 3182 miles, near flawless (one tiny rock-chip on the bumper). Doesn't have mods or anything, in fact all it has are oem mudguards and an auger shift boot. I just didn't research the car enough when I hastily got it. I'm sick of having no torque.. no power until 5800 rpms. I 'raced' my friends manual civic lx from 05 and to be honest.. it wasn't a slaughter like it should of been. We're both mediocre manual drivers.. nothing amazing. I was barely past him until vtec kicked in, where I proceeded to pull a bit more. I always thought have power up top would be fun.. but it's such useless power in everyday driving I've come to realize. I can barely wind out 2nd gear before I'm breaking the law. That and 2nd gear.. my god 2nd gear. I've brought this to the dealer soo many times for this, nothign fixes it. Shifting into 2nd is fine until I have the tach buried, and then when I try and shift.. nothing but grinding until the rpms fall a bit. Anyways, probably going to see if an MS3 is feasible. Gonna try and not spend more than 5k on a new car + trade in. Sorry for the rant, but do you think 18000 would be a reasonable price to ask? |

And 2nd gear.. grinds horribly. I brought it in and they said they might possibly have to replace the synchro (I beleive that's what they said) and they said since it was my fault due to shifting incorrectly it would NOT be honored via the warranty, even when I pointed out it was a common problem with others as well. |

^^ Yeah it's non-navi.
Just as a little update, the dealership offered me 16,800, and they said they took a bit off for this weird scratch I have on my bumper, which ironically, was on the car when I go it straight from the dealership and noticed it too late to bring it back in. |

Having never owned or driven an import before buying the Si! I will say that I was a tad let down by the lack or torque. After driving it for a while, I've found that the handling (nimbleness, if that's a word) makes up for it. I'm keeping a huge smile on my face by carving up turns. Not to mention the mileage when I short shift. Personally, if a dealer offered me anything under $18k, I would be insulted. Sell it private party if your going to go that route. You're never going to get what you feel you should using it as a trade-in. |

if you keep a high reving engine in its optimum rev range, it doesnt matter if theres no torque. the only time the Si's lack of torque makes a difference is in a) 1st gear in a drag race. b) towing. in reality, low torque is not a drawback of an Si because it revs to 8k+. p.s. iVtec, 05 civics get about ~17.5 in the quarter. edmunds got a 15.1 for the Si. if you think that a 2.5 second difference is not a 'slaughter' and 'barley' faster, then i dont know what youre gonna think of a speed3 because theyre less than a second ahead of the Si. going from a normal 05 civic to an Si should be roughly the same difference as going from an Si to an E46 M3. Honda is going to certify that Si, give it more of a warranty (with the certification) and sell it for the price of a brand new Si.
I was shocked how much they sold my ep3 for, and it only sat on the lot a couple days 04 ep3, 40k miles, sold for $16,500. I love the high rpms, and the overall look of the Si. I drove a MS3 this past weekend and was not that impressed with it at all, I'd keep my Si over a MS3. |

So let me get this straight...you are unhappy with a few things with the Si Sedan and you will now go and trade it in and buy a third vehicle? Interesting how you came into my thread and ragged on me about my situation when the ONLY reason i gave my twin the Civic and got the CR-V is because he needed a car and because i'm going to college in upstate NY where the snow and winter weather are the worst in the state. There's irony for you...oh well, good luck with the sale.
