Shizz, I top 80 every day going to work... Then again, my area has fast traffic. In any case, him getting an Si is no big deal, his getting an Evo is no big deal. He crashes, he crashes.

please stop stereotyping people using incorrect information
passing a truck at 5mph? lol
I stand by my remark once again...

you know what I mean, those slow american style passes where you have the cruise control running, with the top down and a truck next to you its kind of, uncomforatable, you want to get by that thing as quickly as possible

btw, how fast have you gone on the street

\/ Didnt see the 140 thing...yeah thats not a smart thing to do(caught=jailtime), but ive gotten a ticket for 20 over before. I hardly ever speed, but the cop was in the right place at the right time and I was late...I learned my lesson! I still stand behind my 80mph remark though, everyones done it regardless of age.

the thing is if he really is going to drive like an idiot it doesn't matter what car he drives, pretty much any decent car will get you into speed that will get your license taken away and get you killed.

I'd say to still get the Si, you will probably be unsatisfied with the R18 or TSX, and with the Evo, STI, or GTO you will probably end up a statistic.

(especially the Evo)

nah if he drives an older gen civic such as the eg then he won't reach that high of a speed otherwise he'd kill himself...
pretty much with every other car too...at 80 it will start vibrating like a vibrator in action

But yea I heard side airbags make your car like a tank and you can crash the si at top speed on the street and still come out untouched. I really thought that was pretty cool too!

He obviously doesn't have a clue, and we're not gonna be able to say anything that would change his mind otherwise, so just let him be and hope he doesn't end up, like TJ213 said, a statistic.

I agree. The Si is not a racecar as some of the people on this forum may think. I hate how some people on here also beleive that if you have a new car and you are young, then you will crash. etc. on so on. But I must thank everyone on here who has been helpful.

The Si is definatly not a racecar, nor is it really that fast, but it is easily enough to get you and others killed. Power has to be respected, something that, sadly, you have to learn.

At first I thought you were responsible, but doing 140 in a older car, w/o parents I'm assuming (which is probably illegal on a permit) is just crazy.

Hopefully you will learn when you buy the Si, and learn to respect power.

Having a new car when you're young doesn't mean you will crash, but a lot of kids are given these expenise vehicles, where used ones are often earned. The end result is that the used ones are often more respected by their owners. However, almost everyone will be involved in an accident, and when you are its best to have a safer car like the Civic to protect you.

Now, I could be wrong (and I hope I am) and you could be a very responsible driver, but your posts so far indicate otherwise.

Remember, with great power comes great responsibility (thats a quote from some movie)

btw, you can take the Evo and GTO off your list for sure, they don't have side airbags

Have you seen insurance on those things , for the difference in insurance total cost for a new FA5 is lower than the RSX-S after a few years.

many members have done so...
even an 18 yr old dude in here racing a corolla...
to make the story short, the guy bought the car in the afternoon and as he was heading home he wanted to race a corolla to get his ego a big boost...
he lost control and crashed into a tree...and yes he was really 18...
(BTW it was a gg si with less than 30 miles on the odo...someone took pics let me find them lol it's on another forum)

Anyone going 140 in any car on any street regardless if there is nobody in a 20 mile radius is totally crazy and has no regard to safety for himself or others. The thing is that you are not only endangering yourself but also inocent people that have no control over what you do.

My first accident was caused by a 16 year old kid driving his grandma's car
having 4 other friends trying to show off. He barreled through a red light and broadsided my car which slammed into the car next to me then was hurled to the other side of traffic where he hit another car and then flipped over. I only had some cuts and bruises and nobody did get killed, this time. This kid didn't even have insurance and didn't have permission to drive his grandmas car. He however effectively totalled 4 cars including his grandmas and endangered numerous lifes.

So, the attitude, I wont do this crap doesn't fly with me because I know better. At 16 you think you are invincible and can't be killed but did you know that the number one cause of death under 20 is being killed in an automobile accident.

Either way. Good luck and hopefully you get some sense knocked into you someday.
