The Infinitis and Acuras are nice, but I say you should get a car like the Si now while you can enjoy it, and you fit into the civic image, plus you have those cars to upgrade to in the future.
The Si is also a great car for mods, so you don't get bored with it as quickly as the other cars, and IMO having FWD is kind of a limiting factor that ensures that you keep power within drivable limits, and don't end up with some overpowered unconrollable beast. Plus from what I heard the RWD G35 is not recomended for use in the snow, and the AWD is AT only. The GTI is an option too, but the 8k redline and VTEC is so adictive, and VW's quality is questionable. (oh, and IMO the back of the car just kills it) although if you are willing to splurge the Lancer Evo X should be here soon |

Man! At 16 I was rockin a 87 Accord Hatchback up and down the slums of North Jersey/NYC.
Lucky man u are. I'd go with Si, reliable honda, great resale value, low insurance, nice stock performance, and great aftermarket modding outlook for the future. |

My first car was a 1992 Eclipse GST. It had way more power than I could handle at 16, but I reeled it in pretty quick. One of the faster cars out of the kids my age, it got me into some trouble. I would recommend staying away from EVOs and STIs for a few years until driving becomes completely second nature.
If you're looking at 20-25k, I'd suggest the GTI or Si.. An EVO or STI is going to have killer insurance, plus you will have to get one used. An Si will have great resale value in a few years and you know you're gonna get decent reliability with the Honda. |

I don't about NY, but here in Baltimore, I see used car dealerships trying to sell used Si's for more than NEW MSRP! It's crazy. If you can wait a month, you can try ordering an 08. That way you can get it exactly how you want it. |

The Honda Fit is a great car and I wish I would have been able to get a car like that when I was 16. These days too many things are made too easy for teenagers partially to the fault of their parents that have money. To truely appreciate a car you should earn it and buy it on your own. My parents never bought me or helped me buy me car. I worked as in a Supermarket for several years before I was able to get me a car and it wasn't anything new. If you are able to buy a new car that's great but don't go crazy with it. There are too many teenagers out there that get themselves in trouble or killed getting too much of a car that they can't handle or go wild with it and cause and accident that they will stick with them for the rest of their lifes. I think the Honda Fit is a great peppy little car that has already more things mod wise than the Si plus it will be a lot less as far as insurance goes. Do you know how much it is to insure a 16 year old kit with a 400 HP GTO. But I guess since your parents are paying for that too than you wont have to worry about that either.

I would go with the Si or with a regular (non-STi) Subaru WRX. The Si has the Honda quality, great little high reving engine, 6-speed, LSD, handles very nice, gets good mileage, and has a good resale value. The WRX has more hp power, has a ton more torque, the AWD is great for rain, snow, or just anything the road can throw at you, the handling is decent, and it is really easy to tune/tons of parts for it.

Guys can we stop bashing him for getting a car that doesn't have less than 100hp. Seriously hes lucky hes getting a car and we shouldn't question that decision it's still not going to change his mind. We're not his parents to tell him what to do.
I would recommend the GTI, its got good power and torque unlike the SI, RSX-S, TSX. But if you don't like the GTI for styling or reliability get the SI/RSX-S/TSX. Which ever you fancy. I'm not a fan of the rest of the cars you mentioned. I do like the 350z somewhat but it looks cheap inside. P.S Just off topic but the Fit does come with standard side curtain airbags. |

Thanks! Doesnt the si come standard with front and side curtain airbags too. I remember when I went to go look at one at the dealership the guy said it had them. And, do you think they will let me test drive one only with a permit? I am a serious buyer but I am not sure what the dealership will think. I will bring one of my parents along. But if not I will have my Juniors in a few weeks and my full license in March. That is when I will buy a car by. |
