Like I said, just curious, maybe this will help my car buying decision.
I'm not sure if I am willing to swing $400 or so every month for the next 5 years. It's an important decision. Thank you.

I drove a used 91 Teg and 96 Miata for years without car payment. Worked for a Honda dealership for a year, got the ride I'd always wanted, 4.9 financing and parts/labor HFP stuff at dealer cost. Broke outta the dealer and got me a great gig with Wachovia bank.

How old are you if you don't mind?

I'm 21, I am on my parents insurance plan with 4 other vehicles, good student discount, multiple vehicle discounts and I pay $1,066 every 6 months. Without the discounts it would be like $1,350. I think thats the going price for someone my age with a new vehicle. I don't have any accidents or tickets on my record either.

for me, I'm 23, good student discount (I hope... I've been out of college for a bit now) I had a ticket 3 years ago for doing 10 over the speed limit. I was on my parents insurance.. but had to get my own plan. it's the only car I have on my plan. I put my 96 with my parents and pay 45/mo for it. my insurance drops again when I hit 24, and again when I hit 25. then I'll have to get married if I want a discount at 26.. lol.. I also have full coverage on both of my vehicles

I'm an accountant, my girl pays half of my car note. I also have a lexus gs 400 that I gave to my cousin. kept it on my name cuz he's to young and ny insurance would rape his ass. So i'm paying 400 per month for insurance for both cars full coverage. life is good and i'm very happy and I take my girl wherever she wants to go cuz she deserves it and I love driving :)

I have a mortgage, gotta commute 3 hrs/day (train) to a good (IT) job and saved up to put almost half down on the Si. Trying to pay off the Si a little early by adding extra $$ every month. No ramen noodles here!

Gotta finish off the loan so I can affaord a '09 Camaro and a kid.

Valet Manager. I'm only working like 10-20 hrs a week and getting about 300-400 every two weeks (including tips). I'll probably get a job at the valet office convincing clients to use our service. Then that'll be 9-5 + night-time events. Working 50+ hours FTMFW! But yeah, my parents gave me 1k each, I put a down payment of 8000, and started financing through there. I wish I could have had the friends back than as I do right now. I would've been able to get a 05-06 RSX-S for 500 under invoice

I'm an Enterprise Software Architect and Software Engineering Lead. I also do software development consulting on the side. I would do more spending on my car but always have to check in with the wifey with a another kid on the way.

I wonder what life would be like with a woman INTO cars. LOL. I can see it now, "Hey hon....I wanna pick up a Comptech SC?". She replies, "You bastard! Only if you get me one too!"

I'm a Band Director. In other words, I get summers off to play with my Si while still getting paid.

You don't have to, just put down a large deposit, your payments will be low, mine is 180 mths taxes included for 3 years.
