What should I check for when taking delivery?

I will be taking delivery of a civic si this afternoon. Just wondering, based on the collective experiences of all members here, what should I check for?

Here is what I have listed down so far:

1. Send bill of sale to Allstate
2. Send window sticker to Allstate

1. Obtain registration/insurance from dealer

How does the new alarm system work differently than basic?

When and from whom will I receive title?

Check for spare tire.

Check audio.

Check climate control.

Check sunroof.

Check all windows.

Check lights.

check the sun visors that they flip all the way up.
check for scratches and dings on the body panels.
check the interior for the same as above.
check for floor mats.

Moved to the "Driving Experience" forum.

Aside from what was mentioned, I would also check the odometer. Pump up the music and see if there's any rattles.

Walk the car and check for dings, dents, and scratches. They will fix it if you spot it at delivery, after that you are on your own. Many cars have damage at delivery.

"When and from whom will I receive title?"

You'll receive the title from the bank when you're done paying for it...

If your paying cash the dealer will send it to the RMV and then the RMV will create a new one and send it to you. Normally a new title is created and then sent directly to the bank, but since your buying the car in full you will get it.

You might also want to consider taking it to YOUR mechanic for a check up. I mean come on, your list is huge, I'm sure at the time of your delivery, the last thing you will be thinking is climate control. The defects you notice weeks later and fix under warranty. That's the way it works. I would check for scratches though.

Drive the car with NO MUSIC or RADIO ON and listen (or bring a friend with hypersensitive hearing along) and see if you can hear any rattles.

I've not been in an 8th gen yet that hasn't had rattles appear (even out of the blue).

My dealer tried to be sneaky on my wife's LX. They placed a red bow on the roof at delivery, like it was a present. Under the bow is the only place that didn't get looked over with detail. What do you know, there was a small scratch right where they had placed the bow, and you could tell from swirl marks that they tried to get it out before delivery but couldn't all the way. I was able to fix it without too much problem, so I didn't make a big deal about it.

Any good dealer should go over the car in detail with you at time of delivery, and should let you check off the delivery checklist, not them.

Make sure that the VIN on the paperwork matches the cars VIN.

This may sound funny but make sure it's an SI, look at the engine if it's a K20 inside. Seriously there's a dealership that made a SI look alike.

Here's one most of us forgot. Check the front bumper to make sure they didn't DRILL through it for the front license plate. A lot of the dealers do, and you can make that point before delivery if you can. Tell them to write it in the contract that you don't want the front bumper alterred(unless you want that ugly hold dead center in your bumper).

my state requires a front plate. i'm assuming for me it wouldn't make a difference if they drill it? i like the plate much better in the center than off center like some i've seen. also can they put it in the center without drilling?
