New mitsubishi lancer vs an r18

I was wondering since mitsubishi released a new regular lancer with sportronic modes who would win this car or an r18?

the lancer has slightly more HP, but is slightly heavier. i think they end up with practically the same power/weight ratio, if im reading the specs on weight right.

CVTs still arent as good as manuals for performance. they only really shine cruising at a set speed. id say vs a manual probably the R18.

manual vs. manual may be different.

according to car & driver both the manual R18, and the paddle shifting lancer achieved a lousy 7.8 0-60.... probably comes down to a drivers race

I calculated the power to weight ratios for the Civic EX (Manual) and the Lancer GTS. The civic had the better power to weight ratio. Civc=19.2 Lancer 19.9. But the lancer has more torque.

Shouldn't a CVT be better at performance? In theory it can just hold the RPM at peak HP and just adjust the gear ratio. I dunno how good the current CVT's are tho.

when adjusting the gear ratio, the transmission is constantly slipping, wasting power. the usefullness out of the CVT is that there is no shift shock.

CVT's are really meant to be an improvement for automatics, not manuals.

The new lancer rocks, the navi is amazing all your setting for the car are on the navi, lights, locks...and it comes with a DVD player standered plus the bluetooth makes it a sweet package...

The paddle shifters are flawless, my son who only drives stick said he would get a auto lancer in a heartbeat...

those paddles are not true paddles like DSG, and i will go onto say that DSG isn't a real manual anyway (i don't consider it one without a third foot pedal). if you're going to get the mitsu, i say get it in the true manual.

I vote for the Lancer.

My old MTX 96 Dodge Neon SOHC kept up with an r18, and its has 180K miles on the odo.
